Today is one of my favorite days of the year: National Bubble Bath Day! What better way to warm up, relax and melt away the stress of the recent weeks than with a steaming hot bubbly bath? If you’re not a bath person, our Top Bathtub Trends of 2015 might just change your mind. Enjoy!

Just a few years ago, bathtubs were no big deal, but showers—showers were HUGE. Literally. Many of my clients were requesting large, luxurious showers in their master bathrooms. Quite a few were actually eager to erase their bathtub entirely, making room for double rainfall shower heads, body sprayers and sitting benches. While large showers are a bathroom trend that will continue to remain on the scene, expect to see bathtubs making a bigger splash in 2015.

As we become more and more connected to our devices, it is important to have a space where we can decompress and de-stress, unplug and reboot. I have noticed a growing trend in my clients’ master bedroom and bathroom wish-lists and must-haves; they no longer want a flat screen TV viewable from the shower, they want an experience. A relaxing and peaceful Zen-like spa experience.

Cutting edge bathtub designs are taking the ritual of cleansing to a high-end level of architectural beauty.  Freestanding baths provide a luxurious stage for inspired design while making the comforts of a lavish spa part of our daily lives. I love freestanding tubs because they are ideal for every design style, giving enormous scope for creativity and inspired design in a bathroom.

Is space at a premium in your bathroom? Does your master bathroom have a nice, big shower but no bathtub? You don’t have to have an enormous space to have an incredible bathroom! Take a look at pics below where the bathtubs are located within the enclosed shower. Working with a small space can definitely be challenging but with good space planning and a little creativity, you can have a relaxing and beautiful bathroom, complete with a warm, bubbling, relaxing bath.

Combining your bathtub within the enclosed shower will save on space while giving you a draft-free bathing experience, especially if you decide on a steam shower enclosure like this design below. Ahhhhhhhhh…

A nice soak in a warm bath will help relieve sore muscles and aching joints. But not all of us are bath people. Some of us would be bath people, but let’s get real; standard bathtubs were designed with kids in mind! If I am tall enough to ride this ride, I am too tall to fit comfortably in a standard bathtub. (I am the shortest person I know and I don’t fit comfortably, so I can only imagine what it’s like for people taller than 5’!) This modern two person jetted freestanding tub should do the trick!

Another option would be a custom sunken bathtub or a Japanese soaking tub. These types of bathtubs not only take up very little floor space, they allow people of all shapes and sizes the comfort and luxury of being completely submerged.
