When a property rests in a lush, green environment of a Johannesburg’s nature reserve, you can’t help but integrate the idyllic scenery into your family’s home concept. And that’s exactly what the architects at the Nico Van Der Meulen firm did!
Each and every room of the Kloof Road House opens up to the stunning natural landscape with frameless folding glass doors. Using this seamless technique, the lines between the indoor and outdoor fade out, as the lavish scenery becomes the house’s key decorative “piece”.
Among the crystal-clear glass spheres, steel and off-shutter, concrete plays the supporting role in the tale of the Kloof Road House. Using these three elements and the “parasitic architecture” concept, the design team created a sculptural building that strikes with modern sophistication.
M Square Lifestyle Design made sure that interior design corresponded with the building’s bold angles as well. The in-house was given edge with clean-lined furniture and strategically positioned, diagonal strip flashing lights and minimalist monochromatic palette. Pearly-finished walls added the touch of glam while soft fabrics and cushions pitched in an inviting and homey atmosphere.
With 7 bedrooms, an aquarium, a swimming pool and a 12×8 floating pavillion that offers breathtaking views of the city, Kloof Road house is a definition of a contemporary dream home.
