Nominations and applications are being sought for dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, with the goal of recruiting a new leader by fall 2016.

The University of Oregon is “embarking on a new era with a new Board of Trustees, a new president, and ambitious goals for fundraising and increasing state support,” UO Provost and Senior Vice President Scott Coltrane states on his Academic Executive Searches webpage, where the job is posted.

The university seeks an innovative, resourceful, and imaginative leader to serve as dean for A&AA, a unique and dynamic college encompassing Architecture, Art, Arts Administration, Digital Arts, History of Art and Architecture, Historic Preservation, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning Public Policy and Management, and Product Design.

The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the school and is responsible for developing and implementing academic strategies, recruiting faculty, students, and staff, and managing organizational and financial structures that promote excellence in research, creative practice, and education. The position reports to the provost.

A fifteen-member search committee has been formed with faculty and staff members in the school, a graduate student, advisory board members, and a faculty member from outside the school. Professor Scott Pratt, dean of the Graduate School, is leading the search, assisted by executive search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates.

Information about the committee, the application process, the dean position profile, and the search firm can be found on the provost’s website.

Confidential applications and nominations will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidate screening will begin immediately. For best consideration, applications and nominations should be provided by January 8, 2016.

Individuals who wish to nominate a candidate should submit a letter of nomination, including the name, position, address, telephone number, and email address of the nominee.

Applications and letters of nominations should be submitted to:
