Sports chiefs at RTE have been left red-faced after an incorrect graphic was shown during the studio coverage of the Republic of Ireland's opening 2016 World Cup group campaign.
As the panel discussed the game - which saw Martin O'Neill's team draw 2-2 with Serbia - a graphic of the European Championships was shown!
A quick-thinking north-west soccer fan got this snap off his tv.
"My tv licence fee being used at its best ...European qualifiers on the sign at the back but lads, your commenting on the World Cup qualifiers ...rte strikes again," the Ballybofey based fan commented on his facebook page.
However, all is not what it seems.
As the website Joe.ie subsequently explained "the choice of graphic was actually decided by the bigwigs in UEFA."
RTE responded to the comments.
And it said: "Thanks for all the tweets pointing out that it's the World Cup and not the Euros folks. We had indeed noticed that but UEFA have decided to brand this part of the process 'European Qualifiers' so we are obliged to use those graphics. All complaints to Gianni Infantino!".
