Blue Line Talent is seeking a Project Management Director for a direct hire position in downtown Denver.  This is an excellent role for the I.S. Leader with expertise in Project Management, organizational management, coaching and leadership skills for I.S. leaders and their teams.   This is a high visibility role on the leadership team with a highly respected Colorado based organization.

Position Title:  Project Management Director

Position Details:

Reporting to the CIO and AVP , will lead the project management function for a staff of 100. The department provides the community with a portfolio of secure, reliable, and cost effective enterprise-level services and applications. This position is part of the leadership team, which includes the Directors of Application Development, Security, Architecture, Enterprise Cloud Services, Research Administration, Cross Applications, and Business Operations.

• Provide functional leadership supporting the direct line managers to ensure the successful execution of project and service management portfolio, including strategic process implementation for enterprise level project management. This encompasses creating awareness around processes and procedures for project management.
• Oversight of all enterprise wide project management activities to include chairing Project Management Review (PMR)
• Direct management of the Service Desk manager and oversight of the service desk team.
• Direct management of the Communications Manager, Quality Assurance (QA) and Release Management Assistant Director, and oversight of the QA team
• Develop and lead the service management strategy improvements and to create, direct, and champion the division’s process improvements
• Responsible for oversight and tracking of the overall project portfolio
• Coordinate status reporting across the portfolio used to communicate related or interfacing projects and initiatives
• Coordinates and leads process improvement for work tracking as a member of the Senior leadership team
• Work closely with leadership team, customers, and project consultants to communicate project strategy, direction, and changes
• Supervises the creation of Service Level Agreements working with the application owners; through the QA team reviews and analyzes the performance of services against service level commitments.
•  Recommends solutions to increase service quality, improve consistency, and ensure use of best practice policies and procedures
• Clearly communicates Project & Service Management Office direction and creates strategic plans from business vision and objectives
• Lead proactive process improvement programs in all areas of project delivery and service management
• Ensure execution of consistent and repeatable practices, processes and procedures used in preparation, support and management of technology solutions

Experience Profile:
• BS (or higher) in Computer Science or other directly related degree, and 12+ years of overall experience
• Expertise in Project Management demonstrated
• Success in working collaboratively across groups and organizations in a highly political environment
• Must have a successful history of managing large multi-team projects, where resources required do not always report directly to the incumbent
• Experience creating and implementing transparent and measurable project processes
• Skill in organizing and allocating resources in a 100+ employee organization
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement short and long-range information technology strategies that improve services
• Experience crafting strategic goals in alignment with the mission of the unit
• Experience acting in a liaison capacity with various units (campus, college, or business unit level) coordinating common goals, communication, and knowledge transfer
• Experience with crafting operational processes, associated documentation, and relevant communication plans
• Experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• SDLC - proposal, planning, requirements, architecture and design, implementation, testing & verification / validation, release management
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills at the leadership level
• Ability to inspire action and trust with business and technology partners. Credibility in relationships (especially with IT and other functional teams) will be essential for success
• Stable employment history of direct employment

Preferred/Helpful:
• MBA, MS Management, or a related subject
• PMI PMP certification
• 10+ years devoted largely to project management
• Experience managing and providing functional leadership in a matrix environment, where project resources do not report directly to the project lead for daily and performance management
• Ability to negotiate and / or facilitate win-win agreements when parties have potentially conflicting needs
• Ability to inspire action and trust with business and technology partners.
• Credibility in relationships (especially with IT and other functional teams) will be essential for success
• Strong working knowledge of service management processes (ITIL, IT Services CMM) and best practices.
• Advanced knowledge of process documentation tools and methodologies
• Exposure to storage solutions, cloud computing, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Cisco networks
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Visio
