Colocation Firm Hurricane Electric Establishes POP in Wisconsin
Colocation hosting and Internet backbone provider Hurricane Electric announced on Thursday it has established a point of presence in Madison, Wisconsin.
The move comes a couple months after Hurricane Electric enhanced its Border Gateway Protocol Toolkit which helps with the analysis, debugging and reverse engineering of Internet routes and peering relationships.
Located at 5NINES at 222 West Washington Ave, the new PoP will allow carriers at 5 NINES to exchange IP traffic directly with Hurricane global Internet backbone.
The new PoP will provide access to Hurricane’s IPv4 and IPv6 systems and services through 100BaseT, 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet network connections.
The PoP is part of Hurricane Electric latest global network expansion in the Midwest, following its recent rollout of new infrastructure in Denver, Colorado and Kansas City, Missouri.

Hurricane Electric operates its own global IPv4 and IPv6 network, and has one of the few global Internet backbones that is IPv6 native and non dependent on internal tunnels for IPv6 connectivity.
The company global network is comprised of more than 1,700 associated IPv6 backbones, with 52 major interconnected exchange points from which it exchanges traffic directly with more than 2,100 different networks.
