Delta Bridges interviews Luka Tenodi, Bar Manager at The Factory restaurant and bar in Zhuhai.
DB: Where did the idea for the Factory grow from?
LUKA: Both owners Lars and Chris, had the idea of opening a bar in Zhuhai. They realized that Zhuhai was missing a real sports bar. Not wanting to open a typical Irish or English Pub, as they looked at a more international customer base, they decided to open a themed style sports bar. Looking at different possible themes, they decided that it would be cool to take the idea as if they would transform an old steel factory into a sports bar. This is why the whole interior looks like it has been taken out of a steel factory and then transformed into bar objects. Steel barrels as chairs and benches, the bar made out of a steel such as the tables made out of steel bars and tubes. All this got them to name the bar “The Factory” and use a gear wheel as logo.
DB: What are some of the key aspects of the Factory that attract customers?
LUKA: Being the one and only real sports bar in Zhuhai, having our 12 x 55inch HD screens and the huge 13 ft HD wide screen. This combined with showing a vast amount of the major sports, following our slogan – “If they’re playing it, we are showing it”. From English Premier League, Ligue 1, LFP, La Liga, Super Ligue, NBA, MBL, NFL, AFL, NRL, F1, Golf and many others. Obviously with the possibility to watch your game on any of the screens independently.
And of course we do further keep our focus on our international quality standards in terms of service, food, drinks and imported produce.
DB: What new and exciting things will we be seeing at the Factory this Summer?
LUKA: For the summer we’ll make sure you always have something to attend and to spend quality time over a dinner and a drink. One of the most important sports events, The World Championship Brazil is starting in a month. Games are early in the morning but for people that want to watch their nation we’ll be opened, and serving early breakfast.
We’re launching a 7 days promo week which means that from Monday until Sunday there will be a special offer on certain items from the menu. For an example, on Sunday there is 40% discount from 5:00 PM until 8 PM on everything we have on both food and drink menu in the Factory.
Everything mentioned you can enjoy while relaxing on our big outdoor lounge style terrace right next to the river.
As for the events, every Friday we have DJ Danny Mac from Australia, who customers like very much, playing his music. Additionally we’re having live bands every Saturday that is making sure the atmosphere is going over the roof and people are having a great time. Also, we’re preparing few big party and Man vs Food events which will be announced in the near future so be prepared because this summer might turn out to be one of the most interesting ones you’ve had in Zhuhai.
DB: Could you tell us about the new menu that is now on offer?
LUKA: Well, being a sports bar, we decided to refocus our food direction to fit “The Factory” spirit, for our customers to enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere with friends or while watching their favorite game.
We have therefore developed a new menu with typical comfort food from different continents to keep the internationality.
We are now serving:

Pasta & Pizza’s - choice of 22 different thin crust Pizza’s both 10 and 18 inch
Sandwiches – from BLT to Philly Cheese Steak and Crocque Monsieur
Belgian Fries – Mayo Ketchup, Chili Cheese Sauce, Cheese & Bacon or Belgian Beef Stew
Hot Dogs – From Classic to The German Dog - with Bratwurst and Sauerkraut
Tex Mex – from a variety of Taco’s, our unique Factory Nachos or the Fajita’s
Asian – Thai Red Curry, Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup or Beef & Chicken Saté
Still keeping the highest quality standards in produce, Australian Beef, imported Tacos & Nachos, our home made Pizza’s and Belgian Fries. Obviously everything is prepared in house by our international chef’s.
