School Orientation Sessions for Returning Students

Returning students in grades 10, 11, and 12 or a parent/guardian are required to attend a School Orientation session before the 2016-17 year begins. Families may register for an orientation session only after they complete required “back-to-school” forms. When families receive an email with a link prompting them to register for orientation, they may choose a 2-hour session that works best with their schedule.

Those attending orientation will pay for the tablet insurance plan they selected and pick up the school-issued iPad Air. (Please remember your checkbook and checks may be made payable to DeLaSalle for $50 or $405, depending on the tablet insurance plan that you chose). Families may also deposit lunch money into their child’s account and meet with other important school personnel.

Orientation sessions are scheduled:

Wednesday, August 10, 10:30am-6:30pm

Wednesday, August 17, 12:00-8:00pm

Families may not register for a school orientation until they have completed and submitted required back-to-school forms. The primary contact in each household has received an email from communications@delasalle.com with a link to the forms; parents with multiple children will receive a separate email for each child. Families should check their email inbox for the message and may look to a junk or spam folder to see if the message was accidentally sent there.

After the forms are submitted, the primary contact will receive a separate email with a link to register for orientation.

School/Family Orientation for New Students/Families - Thursday, August 18

All parents and families who are new to DeLaSalle (Class of 2020 and transfers) are asked to come to a more extensive “New Family” Orientation program on the evening of Thursday, August 18.  This program will include a Welcome Cookout that begins at 5:30pm and continues with presentations from various administrators, explanations of school practices and protocols, iPad distribution and more at 6:30pm. Those attending this New Family Orientation will pay for the tablet insurance plan they selected and pick up the school-issued iPad Air. (Please remember your checkbook and checks may be made payable to DeLaSalle for $50 or $405, depending on the tablet insurance plan that you chose). Families may also deposit lunch money into their child’s account and meet with other important school personnel.

Families must complete and submit required back-to-school forms. The primary contact in each household has received an email from communications@delasalle.com with a link to the forms; parents with multiple children will receive a separate email for each child. Families should check their email inbox for the message and may look to a junk or spam folder to see if the message was accidentally sent there.

Pre-registration for New Family Orientation is not required – and, unlike returning families, new families will not receive a separate e-mail with a registration link for August 18.

New Student Orientation - Thursday, August 18

Work Service - REQUIRED for all students receiving need-based financial aid

Families are reminded that all students who receive financial aid based on need for the 2016-17 school year are required to schedule and complete 10 hours of work-service in return for their grant. (Students who receive only a Presidential Scholarship are not required to complete work-service.) Many students have completed their required work-service during the summer. Most students still need to schedule their 10 hours of work-service during the school year. Parents should contact Brooks Shelstad at 612.676.7614 to do so.

Islander Foundation

Tuition, fees, and expenses can add up quickly. To assist families in meeting their high school financial needs, DeLaSalle offers the Islander Foundation. Through the Foundation, parents and students work at various local arena and stadium concession stands, including here at the school. The Foundation is paid by the arena venue. DeLaSalle workers may then apply to the Foundation for grants to assist with school expenses such as tuition, graduation fees, or prom tickets. Please visit the Islander Foundation webpage to learn more.

Back-to-School Night Moved to Sept. 7

Back-to-School Night, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 31, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 7. DeLaSalle made the change because other schools scheduled a number of athletic contests the night of August 31. Additionally, the school had to reschedule the Mass of the Holy Spirit to August 31 to accommodate the schedule of Archbishop Bernard Hebda, who will celebrate the Mass. The September 7 Back-to-School Night falls on an evening where there are currently no athletic contests scheduled.
