JOB TITLE: CMI Manager - IC SEAA & Kid Platform (Consumer Market Insight)

CMI roles are leadership roles and are about gaining breadth of experience, both within CMI and of the wider business. This role will cement your deep understanding of how the business works and further develop your business acumen. You will actively use your expertise to provide added value insights to the business.

It is likely that you will lead a team of people, ranging in years of experience.. You will motivate and lead your team, and have a passion for developing and coaching in order to build superior talent in CMI.

The CMI function’s mission is to show the business how and where to win. In this role you will contribute to delivering our mission as the lead business partner to Customer Development and marketing teams. You will be responsible and accountable for the management and delivery of key projects. You will be required to:

• Offer foresight rather than just insight, by proactively identifying consumer and market trends, and using these to deliver tactical opportunities for the business. You will also begin to identify more strategic possibilities for marketing teams to capitalize on.

• Understand brand building and/or brand development to a level which enables you to advise the business on advertising, brand positioning, and shopper behavior.

• Be independent and deliver fact based, objective views of the business. You will provide credible recommendations to marketing business partners, based on a one consumer approach.

• Operate in a professional manner, applying CMI tools and techniques with rigor and discipline.

• Use your innate ability and passion to understand and empathize with consumers and customers to deliver valuable insights to the business.

• Motivate and lead any direct reports you have, coaching them towards success

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand the category, brands, customers and the key business objectives and challenges, and be able to set relevant research programmes to deliver against the objectives

• Responsible for building and developing relationships with own group of business partners at director or VP level

• Identify gaps in strategic understanding and develop & implement global Strategic Understanding Plan (SUP) for the brand/category and align with global & regional requirements

• Advise and challenge the business on portfolio choices and investment decisions • Hold business partners accountable for implementing CMI recommendations

• Design and deliver research for projects at all stages throughout the innovation funnel, and manage continuous projects (Innovation, Renovation and NILG – non-innovation led growth)

• Contribute to and/or manage category/strategic understanding work e.g. Habits & Attitudes, Drivers

• Complement ad hoc research with in-market understanding

• Deliver insights that improve business performance e.g. increased volume or gross margin

• Own and allocate the CMI budget for your area of responsibility, based on knowledge gaps, business requirements and strategic priorities

• Use budget to design cost effective research programmes for your projects, whilst liaising with CTI/CSI/BB to incorporate their research elements in the overall plan, in order to maximize efficiency and effectiveness

• Manage and negotiate with agencies to ensure they deliver to the business objectives, within the budget available

• Advise, challenge and guide the team and contribute to the strategic direction of the region or brand.

• Continue to build on research capabilities and expertise by working with CLTs and external agencies to drive best CMI best practice into the business.

• Motivate and lead a team of people – either direct reports, agency, or project network, and drive them to success

Experience :

• Ideally you will have hands on experience of Marketing, in either Brand Building or Brand Development, or Customer Development

• Experience and knowledge in Market Research Fundamentals, Mastering Market Research Techniques, Bringing Integrated Consumer and Shopper Insights into the Business, and Showing the Business How and Where to Win.
