Business Context & Main Job Purpose:

The Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) Consumer IT Team vision is for Unilever to win in the market place by helping marketing win with technology and by putting the consumer at the heart of everything we do, in our agility, our delivery, our mind-set.

The IT Business Partnering & Innovation (BP&I) team is the “one face of IT to the business” for Global Marketing. The BP part is responsible for managing key global relationships within the function, ensuring that fit for purpose solutions and capabilities are developed, gaining a deep understanding of business requirements and championing the value of IT to the function. The Innovation part is responsible for all aspects of the IT business application design, accountable for design quality from feasibility to delivery and timely delivery of affordable and sustainable IT business solutions at acceptable risk to ongoing operations, and in line with the long term plans for the evolution of our key IT landscapes.

The BP&I Manager – has the following areas of responsibility:

The IT Business Partner will be responsible for identifying supporting technology and delivering technology enabled solutions for Global Marketing.

Global Marketing - Creative Excellence :

We are now introducing the connect of U Studios to Unilever. With this it a huge focus and programme that is starting up within 2016. This concept will mean the IT partner will need to understand this change to both business process and technology that is needed to ensure this new concept it success.

Global Marketing – Foundry:

Unilever Foundry technology platform to enable the foundry to be recognised as the CPG partner of choice to the innovative tech & creative community. Managing a second phase of enhancements to the Unilever Foundry website and community platform. Looking to building in Foundry needing to linking up CMI stratus within the Foundry process.

Global Marketing Unilever Brand:

Unilever Brand is a marketing team that is not ever by other areas. This requires to partner with the other areas of the ETS marketing teams to ensure Unilever brand is working in line with over standard process and making the most of tools.

Key Accountabilities:

Builds long-term relationships with Senior customer representatives

Creates, identifies and responds to opportunities for providing technology and services to the customer organisation, liaising with those responsible in own organisation. Promotes technology and services at a high level to our customers. Encourages the development of new technology to meet future needs.

Takes full responsibility for the level of customer satisfaction, at regular intervals or after each significant delivery of product or service. Responds to customers’ queries and complaints. Ensures that corrective action is taken by own organisation and by the customer organisation. Facilitates customers’ involvement in the continuous improvement of the products and services supplied to them.

Plans, organises and carries out consultancy assignments alone, or leads a team of consultants. Possesses the perception to devise solutions and recognise opportunities across a very broad front and shows the ability to take action to exploit opportunities that will have a measurable effect on profit/operational effectiveness.

Rapidly wins respect from both clients/users and professional colleagues and develops a reputation for sound judgement and effectiveness in a variety of organisational cultures.

Initiates investigation and development of innovative methods of exploiting IT assets, to the benefit of organisations and the community. Carries out analysis and develops business proposals to exploit technology in line with the organisation’s mission, objectives and strategy.

Initiates and influences relationships with and between key stakeholders, in business change design, management and implementation, acting as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers

Develop strong relationships, with key stakeholders across ETS,

Global IT Innovation, Service, CTO,

and with strategic suppliers and 3rd party IT service providers (e.g. Salesforce, Adobe, Cognizant, Saambash)

Ensures initiatives are set-up for success by advising on project and programme governance.

Manages delivery of Global Projects, this can mean leading the project end-to-end.

Provides technology, project and program management and consultancy across Global Projects

Acts as a trusted, independent advisor to Global Marketing, Specifically Agency Releations, The Foundry and Creative Excellence team

Tracks all projects, actions and improvements through to completion.

Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine requirements, impact on business processes, and identifies solutions or reviews solution proposals in agency statements of work. Provides program and project management.

Participates with the Marketing and ETS staff in conducting investigations at a high level for strategy studies, requirements specifications and feasibility studies. Maintains technical awareness at a level where alternatives can be analyzed, modelled and classified according to technical feasibility and performance.

Utilizes business experience and skills to assess and advice on technical alternatives, marrying up technical capabilities with consumer expectations and brand objectives.

Applies available standards, methods and tools in an intelligent and effective way, and produces a consistently high standard of documentation of both a technical and a descriptive nature.

Plans, arranges and controls meetings and workshops.

Directly manages resources with full responsibility for professional development and project delivery.

Coordinates with Consumer IT resources in other regions to deliver projects and share best practice.

Liaises with IT Business partners in Marketing BP&I and Geographies on demand.

Jointly with the business, proactively identify impacts/risks and mitigation plans, design process planning, re-engineering and improvement methods

Streamlines IT technologies and processes and works to eliminate redundancy.

Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:

Essential:

Business Partnering or account management experience

Established strong credibility in both IT and the rest of the business.

Proven experience in managing projects end to end

Proven experience in managing teams (incl. suppliers)

Strong appreciation of the processes and challenges facing the relevant function being partnered

Desirable:

Experience of managing large external service providers delivering projects and support

Experience of working at a management role in the relevant business function.

Appreciation of IT systems landscapes and impact of architecture decisions on quality and delivery

Financial awareness and understanding of TCO models

Knowledge of Marketing process area and IT solutions in this area

Experience in the Application Development Life Cycle

Key thing in this role will be a real passion for the consumer and driving the success of Unilever through delivering outstanding marketing solutions using technology.

Demonstrate communication skills (written and oral) are critical to the role’s success. Excellent understanding of IT application systems and the infrastructure that enables them. Must possess a good external view of the marketplace to ensure that future strategies are relevant to the business.
