In order to rapidly deliver digital transformation at Unilever, a DevOps strategy has been set out to revolutionise the way we work across the IT organisation. The Collaboration Services DevOps Spoke forms a key part of this new structure. It will provide a rapid, proactive approach to application design, development, delivery and management, taking advantage of the latest technologies to automate, simplify and streamline the delivery of new applications, for Unilever and its partners.

This role will work as a central member of this team leading overseeing the new building of new capabilities across Unilever via web, mobile and even wearables. This will enable Unilever will form new ways of working, focusing on high speed, low cost software delivery. Following DevOps principals of sprint based agile software development, continuous delivery, and automation, work closely with all functions to visualise, prototype and deliver end to end software solutions across the enterprise. Making use of emerging technology such as Internet of things, Wearables, gamification and big data analytics, this will be a step change in innovative solutions to business problems.

Operating with a ‘start-up’ mentality, whilst observing Unilever standards is paramount, with a constant drive to improve. While there will be a central DevOps Hub to manage the platform, the DevOps Spoke for Collaboration Services will be responsible for key web & mobile apps for the enterprise needs.

The role of the Collaboration Services Salesforce Technical Lead is to manage the diverse teams of developers & SME’s working in our agile platforms, ensuring that best practice is adhered to, and continuously improve and innovate to achieve a faster go to market.

This role will offer the opportunity to true continuous innovation, always looking for ways to balance delivery speed, performance and flexibility to meet and exceed business expectations for IT delivery.

The

Collaboration Services Salesforce Technical Lead role will -

·

Lead a team of developers / SME’s / BA / UX to ensure that the defined best practices are adhered to, innovate and reuse code / libraries in an efficient manner to save time & cost.

Lead the Design Forum for the Employee Services DevOps Spoke

·

Setup Continuous Integration and ensure that the development team uses it for automated deployment, regression test automation & automated code quality checks.

·

Establish and maintain a very strong Trusted Partner Relationship with the VP, Directors and teams being partnered.

·

Partner with CTO / EA’s / DevOps Central Hub.

·

Provide ES leadership and support during big programme Technology Selection Decisions or Programme Architecture reviews.

·

Produce the high level Architecture Definition to overall direct the programmes solution architectures in their design activities.

·

Maintain a strong set of technology architecture principals, standards, guidelines and positions

·

Support the DevOps Hub team to understand architecture standards and where appropriate have exceptions to architecture approved.

·

Maintain an overall Strategic Enterprise Reference Architecture view of business capabilities, the associated application/technology architectures (as-is, to-be, interim) and architecture views.

·

Work closely with vendors product teams to maintain a strategic awareness of, and influence the direction of the Roadmaps of our selected technologies and communicate these, together with associated viewpoints to DevOps spoke teams.

·

Through the strong relationships built with the technology teams, and in some cases through Evaluations/POC’s, gain further learning’s, and co-develop these into a set of Unilever technology roadmaps.

·

Support the teams during times of significant architectural issue with technologies being deployed.

Main Accountabilities

Formation and Management of the Collaboration Services DevOps Spoke -

·

Establishes the Salesforce DevOps spoke to drive the delivery and guidance of key projects / programs in Employee Services.

·

Lead the Salesforce Design forum for the spoke to ensure reusability of assets, best practice and coding standards are adhered to, platform sanity & hygiene etc.

·

Mobilise and leads a virtual team of SME’s, Developers, and Testers & UX.

·

Setup Continuous Integrations

·

Provides clear governance on tactical and strategic platforms

·

Works with stakeholders across the business to identify new opportunities to increase employee productivity through greater mobile working

·

Maintain a strong set of technology architecture Principals, Standards, Guidelines and Positions

·

Maintain an overall Strategic Enterprise Reference Architecture view of business capabilities, the associated application/technology architectures (as-is, to-be, interim) and architecture views.

·

Establish the Service Delivery model / Transition to Support for the DevOps Spoke.

·

Agile / continuous delivery

Drive the right technology selection Decisions for new Programmes, or those being reviewed. Working closely with colleagues within the DevOps Hub / CTO team being partnered,

by

·

Building an understanding of the business requirements

·

Driving the identification of potential technology options, with the support of DevOps Hub / CTO

·

Driving insights and challenges during technology reviews

·

Delivering further internal and external research on the proposed technologies, together with identifying synergies/risks.

·

Ensuring all the non-functional/architectural points are covered (e.g. Run aspects, TCO etc)

·

Supporting the recommendation and decision process across VP’s & Directors.

·

Undertake reviews as teams move to the next level of design and delivery to ensure it is still in line with the original Architecture Definition, and being there to support big issues.

·

Produce the high level Architecture Definition to overall direct the programmes solution architectures in their design activities

Product Vendor Management

Work closely with Vendors Product teams to maintain a strategic awareness of, and influence the direction of the Roadmaps of our selected technologies and communicate these.

Build a strong working relationship with the technology vendors, communicating regularly

·

Maintain an understanding of the technology current architectures, as well as roadmap plans and strategic direction for the products

·

Gauge the roadmap and strategy with regards to update opportunities as well as risks they bring for Unilever, and where necessary do this by leading technical evaluations / POC’s

·

Build and maintain a strong external relationship with other organisations using the technologies. Share learning’s and experiences with the organisations where appropriate and where relevant, bring these into Unilever for internal advantage

Deliver constant, high quality updates to Unilever colleagues.

Supplier Management

·

Develops application delivery and partnership approach with key suppliers

Provides clear direction on tactical and strategic platforms

Oversees RFP process and plays key role in key role in selection of application and platform tools for which to build apps on.

Works with Suppliers to identify and implement best practice to develop Unilever's Salesforce eco-system.
