We are currently recruiting a Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) Manager within our Ice Cream Global CMI team to lead on our Desserts platform (Walls and Carte D’Or).
The Ice Cream market worldwide is a €74.1bn business and Unilever is market leader globally.
We have a strong portfolio of brands including Walls, Carte D’or, Magnum, Cornetto and Ben & Jerry’s and strong business in Europe, North America and LATAM.

This CMI role is based in 100VE with the global CMI and marketing team.
In order to support, build and drive our growth agenda, the role requires the leadership of an enthusiastic CMI manager to help bring the consumers of our Walls and Carte D’Or products to life. To inspire and provoke new ways to see opportunities for our business and to help shape brilliant communication on what our brands bring to the table.
Partnering directly with the Desserts marketing team, this is an opportunity to help set the strategic agenda of the desserts business and the Walls brand, drive innovation, strategy and mix optimisation for key global projects.
In order to grow our core we need to think smart. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their strategic thinking, and be encouraged to do things differently.
The successful candidate will have a proven background in CMI research, with clear leadership skills that can be nurtured and developed. They will be inquisitive, enthusiastic, willing to challenge the status quo, be able to use multiple information sources to tell a succinct story and give a point of view, and keen to be a true partner to Marketing.
The role has one Assistant Manager reporting into them. You should be excited by the ability to lead, manage, coach, motivate and develop people.
Key Responsibilities
Define and deliver critical market research needs for Global Desserts, which includes the Walls and Carte D’Or brands, and the Walls Masterbrand which covers products like Feast, Calippo and Solero.
Develop a smart CMI plan, against budget, to identify key opportunites, shape amazing concepts, define brilliant products, packaging and effective communication that drives sales and equity.
Offer foresight rather than just insight, by proactively identifying consumer and market trends, using these to deliver strategic and tactical opportunities for the business.
And communicate them persuasively.
Operate in a professional manner driving implementation of Unilever CMI best practices in the Desserts team and encourage use of new techniques and processes to drive ‘more for less’ culture.
Build robust partnership with senior business partners and category leadership in Brand Development and Work directly with all cross functional teams which includes Marketing and Research & Development to deliver efficiently and be a source of effective challenge.
Work closely with the CMI teams in different parts of the world on regional learning and innovation plans and integrate thinking into global learning.

Relevant Experience
The ideal candidate would be someone who is a strategic thinker, able to build convincing stories & recommendations out of facts and inspire and lead change through their ability and passion for the consumer.
You are expected to be fully operational in the majority of CMI skills for
Market Research Fundamentals: idea generation and screening, concept testing, full mix testing, communication developing and testing.
Basic appreciation of Market Analytics and Shopper Insight and new digital approaches for market research.
Business/marketing awareness
Analytical thinking to be able to see patterns across data sources
Creative thinking to find new ideas and ways of doing things
Clear communication and influencing skills
Able to work independently and manage multiple projects
Market Research experience
