JOB PURPOSE:

As an Assistant Brand Manager you will be responsible for the development and execution of a marketing plan for our tea category involving the iconic brands PG Tips and Lyons. You will be pivotal in brand building activities for these brands, working with the marketing manager, sales managers, retail marketers and European Cluster Marketers to deliver ‘best in class’ activations and communications which really add value to our customers in trade as well as operators and of course the consumer.

Day to day, your role will consist of developing activation campaigns for the tea category, briefing, executing and follow up on marketing activities across the tea category. You will work closely with Consumer Insights and Analytics to strengthen our proposition and plans. You will be involved in cross functional business teams. There will be opportunities to lead projects also for adjacent categories in the FOH portfolio.

Your role in owning, developing and delivering strong plans to the market is dependent on your ability to communicate well both written and orally, as well as your passion for driving business growth. In addition, as a marketing professional it is key for you to keep up to date with developments in marketing (eg digital and social media) therefore you will have a full induction and training programme designed for you within Unilever’s leading edge marketing academy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree level preferable. Education to A level or International Equivalent essential.

Strong experience in marketing ideally, otherwise a role where delivery of marketing initiatives has been included. Ideally suited to someone currently working in Retail Brand Development, Brand Building or Category Management who is looking for a broadened experience in Brand Building.

Experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods or Food Service desirable but not essential.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Own the tea portfolio (Lyons and PG Tips) within the MCO. Analyse and suggest changes to the European Cluster Marketing Mgr.

Own Consumer Experience and Merchandising

Develop and Execute Brand Building Campaigns for Lyons and PG Tips.

Interact and align with Retail colleagues on marketing initiatives and communications.

Collect and feedback insights, issues and trends to the European cluster.

Within the annual planning process, own the tea section, including budget investment and promotional evaluation.

Tailor Concepts that help the customer grow, based on true insights and Brand Performance Standards.

Plan and implement assets in Media and Communications together with the NDC Manager.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and an ability to form long lasting working relationships with a variety of people.

Good communication and project management skills.

Passion for marketing excellence and building brands.

A bias for action and simplicity in processes and interactions.

Strong organisational skills and an ability to meet timelines in a disciplined manner.

Strong IT and numerical skills, particularly in MS Office suite and Excel, but also able to demonstrate an ability to understand and utilise other systems i.e. Sales out, ESRA etc.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Delivery of sales growth and profit targets.

Delivery of annual marketing plan.

Delivery of annual individual goal plan, to be defined in discussion with your line manager.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Occasional national travel and overnights required.
