Production Artist - Print and Digital

This position is responsible for the production of print and digital art. As a Production Artist for Kate Somerville Skincare you should have a dedication to working quickly in a fast paced environment, with a keen eye to details. Your job will include supporting the creative team by setting up print ready artwork for production as well as preparing/executing digital assets. This position will also be responsible for all artwork updates and revisions in addition to maintaining the data base for all art files company wide. The Production Artist will coordinate and manage timelines to insure on time delivery of all assigned projects. The Production Artist is expected to provide accurate and properly prepared files for final delivery. This position will report to our Senior Graphic Designer.
Responsibilities:
* Production work for primary and secondary packaging, including marketing materials such as merchandising visuals, training materials, web banners and presentations.
* Production work for digital content for e-commerce websites, Social Media and banners
* Ability to build files that are print ready; knowledge of resolution, trapping, overprint and printing processes
* Create layouts of existing artwork and copy and change the specifications to meet the various requirements and formats
* Retouch layouts and compositions to enhance the look and feel
* Photo retouching and masking, resizing assets etc.). You must be skilled in Photoshop and be able to take direction well.
* Must be able to take your work through final mechanicals and have strong production skills as you will be working on a variety of print collateral.
* Skilled in design and comfortable working from concept through to final mechanicals.
* Maintain and organize file structure for collaborative use
* Work collaboratively with team, while working on multiple projects simultaneously, to provide accurate and timely delivery of high quality work.
* Collect documents and send to the printers and developers as needed.
* Research and purchase stock photography when required.
* Proactively communicate status of projects to keep others well informed.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications:
Required Experience
* 2+ years of experience working in a print/digital marketing environment – skincare, beauty and or cosmetic industry preferred
* Degree in Graphic Design or related field
* Experience with packaging for regulated products, (OTC and Cosmetics desirable)
* Proficient in a Macintosh environment using Adobe C6 programs Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Demonstrates working knowledge of visual design principals; graphic design, layout, typography, color and branding.Possessstrong layout skills and a solid understanding of typography.
* Demonstrates strong knowledge of 4- color process from concept to production.
* Demonstrates strong knowledge of print production and pre-flight process.
* Knowledge of industry best practices related to digital and print design production.
* Ability to work independently and within a collaborative environment
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Strong initiative, sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize, multi-task on multiple projects and work under a tight schedule with input from several different sources
