Steve Nash recently was hurt due to a severe back injury and will miss the season and may miss the remainder of his career. The Lakers are taking a page out of the Indiana Pacers book, the Pacers did the same once they officially lost All-Star wing Paul George

Bill Oram of the Orange County Register reports the following.

Lakers will apply for disabled player exception following Nash news. If granted, exception would be worth roughly $4.85 million.

The following was also reported in detail by NBC Sports Probaketballtalk.com’s Brett Pollakoff.

Any player the Lakers acquire, either via trade or waiver claim, must be in the final year of his current contract, and fit into that allocated salary spot.

Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times took a complete look at L.A.’s options where Nash is concerned, and none of them are all that appealing. The Lakers are simply doing their due diligence by applying for this exception, but it’s far from guaranteed that they’ll be able to find a meaningful way to use it.

If I was Nash, I would do whatever is needed for the Lakers as a team. They brought you in just to basically not play in four years of time with the squad. Throw LA a bone Steve.
