With an eye toward professionals and amateurs alike, independent developer SoundStage is taking full advantage of the recent Virtual Reality explosion.

Soundstage allows user to play drums, patch synths, load samples, and control effects and parameters, all within the room-scale virtual environment. “Whether you’re a professional DJ creating a new sound, or a hobbyist who wants to rock out on virtual drums, SoundStage gives you a diverse toolset to express yourself,” the company says.

The app was inspired by the 80s era synth networks frequently seen on stages, attempting to capture this tactility while also presenting a playful virtual interface of airbrush paintings and 80s computer graphics. So far the sandbox style app has a positive rating via HTC and is available for Early Access trials now.

Soundstage is now available on the HTC Stream Store. Check out footage of the app in action below
