The day you start appreciating and anticipating autumn, is the day you move to Amsterdam. Since as soon as your Facebook timeline starts to fill up with the first bunch of events, you know the best is about to come… Amsterdam Dance Event is a well awaited week of the biggest club festival in the world, but also all the music world community – the legends, the new-comers, the outcasts (subgenres) – all coming together to showcase the state-of-art electronic dance music.

Honeslty, it’s easy to lose track (or even head) with well over 450 events already scheduled, in around 100 clubs and venues all over Amsterdam welcoming over 2000 performers (no, really)! Thus as every year, we dive into the full agenda and cherry pick our top selections day by day, in attempt to provide a comprehensive guide on what not to miss out on.

Saturday is THE day for party on ADE! The amount of great events is just so big, it was hard to pull up a condensed list of up to 10 events. Again, take in mind, that we did not necessarily include all the big and already well-known events, since it seemed to us that picking the special gems is a much more interesting. Keep in mind the order of the list is not based on preferences.

Do not sit on the furniture showcase….Behrouz + more | Paradiso | Tickets

How about we begin the list with Behrouz, who is bringing his living room party concept into a converted former church, what a treat! The concept of the party is based on his Do Not Sit On The Furniture venue in Miami. The club idea came up as an antigonist to the Miami’s commercial VIP and bottle service dance club establishment. Therefore it’s concept is based on the feel of a house party, intimacy and simplicity.

Altogether, just the thought of this veteran DJ, probably best known for his magnificent Burning Man Robot Heart sets, taking over a converted former church Paradiso, is exciting! However, bringing the intimacy in the space of the church sounds like a challenge a Burning Man veteran can handle!

Breakfast Club – ADE 2016 | Radion | Tickets

As they say all roads lead to Rome, but let’s face it, all the ADE party troopers wind down at the Breakfast Club. As last year Breakfast Club becomes the go to meeting point for those not ready to kill the night just yet or those in need to start early. It shall begin at early dawn – 7 in the morning and go on to 6 pm. But the best of it all is that for an afterparty it has put up a killer line-up, such as performances by a relatively rare guest in Amsterdam, the energetic Berghain’s resident DVS1, also Levon Vincent, Margaret Dygas and Brooklyn’s upcoming underdog Aurora Halal.

Line-up: DVS1 | Levon Vincent | Margaret Dygas | Aurora Halal | Jane Fitz | Aleks | Brent Roozendaal | Tommy Kornuijt | Mark Antoni

909 Invites Triangle| Warehouse 22 | Tickets

Amsterdam’s 909 festival is hosting two nights on this ADE this year. While Friday night is taken over by Derrick May, Saturday the wheel is given to the legendary Jeff Mills and his 3 hour “Lost in Space” performance. Anyone who has been following the techno legend knows his aspiration for space, his last 10 years have been dedicated to the topic, with his live shows being truly one of a kind experiences. Next to that, unsurprisingly to 909, a line-up of raw uncompromising techno from Karenn (Blawan and Pariah), James Ruskin, Dasha Rush and more.

Line-up: Jeff Mills | Karenn | James Ruskin | Cari Lekebusch | Shifted | Dasha Rush

One of the perks of De School owning a 24 hour licence is occasions like Het Weekend, where the full family of the club masters, many coming from their predecessor Trouw take over for their ADE showcase. Joined by Âme and Dixon will be the full team of Amsterdam’s very own Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff, Tom Trago, Makam, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Elias Mazian, Job Jobse, Carlos Valdes, Sandrien and JP Enfant and more.

Line-up: Âme | Dixon | Jennifer Cardini | Tom Trago | Makam | Dekmantel Soundsystem | Elias Mazian | Job Jobse | Carlos Valdes | Sandrien | JP Enfant | Lena Willikens | Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff | Izabel

Dockyard Daytime Festival ADE 2016 | Dockyard | Tickets

Dockyard Festival presents itself in a nice metaphor of being “sprung from the ageing materials that express Netherland’s maritime and industrial heritage, where the sawing, drilling and hammering of the past is replaced with the beats of the DJs that punch through the air.” All the way from 11 to 11 in the industrial surroundings, Dokyard will host some of the heaviest sounding artists. Ones not to miss is a great selection of the live performances – such as the intricate Surgeon, Gaiser and a very a live performance by Lady Gaga’s producer Lady Starlight (believe me it is nothing what you would expect). Next to that, a true treat – a full house of the Romanian techno heads – RPR Soundsystem (Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Raresh).

Line-up: Dubfire | Monika Kruse | Art Department | Daniel Miller | Andre Buljat | DJ Herr | SHADED | Fur Coat | Nicole Moudaber | The Advent | Industrialyzer | Surgeon | Lady Starlight | Truss | Carlo Lio | Juan Sanchez | Abstract Division | Dispar Vulgo | Rick Maia | Rhadoo | Petre Inspirescu | Raresh | Oscar Mulero | Christian Wünsch | Exium | Jonas Kopp | Pfirter | Tripeo | Lewis Fautzi | Reeko | Kwartz | Cuartero | Egbert | Fer Br | Gaiser | Paco Osuna | Paul Ritch

All Day I Dream x Audio Obscura ADE | De Hallen Studio’s | Tickets

A joint team of the world famous Lee Burridge‘s concept of All Day I Dream concept and Amsterdam’s exprolers of the true cutting edge sounds and concepts – Audio Obscura set out to take over Amsterdam’s De Hallen Studio’s. This newly converted venue has never hosted an electronic music event before and will be faithful to open its doors only to ADID during the ADE weekend. Thus we are really curious. Plus the line- up. With his middle eastern feel, live vocals, Satori has been carving its name as one of the most interesting live performers in the electronic scene this year. Joined by the dutch very own Eelke Kleijn, is Lee Burridge himself. A dancefloor veteran, first class DJ, who he says “I have been in the DJ mag poll at number 10, 27, 31, 56, 76 and 88 but still feel exactly the same.”.

Line-up: Lee Burridge | Eelke Kleijn | Satori

Eurabia | Paradiso | Tickets

A party with Eurabia flagship has been carving its name around Europe as a crazy live show and celebration. It was initiated by  Cairo Liberation Front, two dutch guys from Tilburg, to promote the sonic Arabic revolution. Inspired by a big cause, the duo of MC and a DJ plays electro cha3bi, which they describe as “music that combines American hip-hop, eurohouse and Arabic rhythms, or like Omar Souleyman meeting Sean Paul and Aphex Twin at a wedding party.”  Bringing under one roof the talent inspired by Arabic grooves, including the Parisian techno duo Acid Arab, and young and promising DJs Jabo and Gan Gah from Morocco, who both process their background in their music. Expect Middle-Eastern and North-African tunes mixed with whipping bass music.

Line-up: Acid Arab | Cairo Liberation Front | Jabo | Gan Gah

Circoloco at Loveland ADE| Casco Amsterdam | Tickets

Mediahaven is a little drive away from the core of the city, but it is a venue not usually open for events, and it indeed has amazing acoustics with their 12 metre ceiling. Several things caught our eye on this line-up. The combo of The Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler is almost always a win due to the dynamic they share on stage, then there will also be sets from the legendary Gerd Janson, the brilliant Konstantin of Giegling and our favourite Scotsman Jackmaster. Its just a real top standard party put up together, a choice that just cant go wrong.

Line-up: Seth Troxler | The Martinez Brothers | Matthias Tanzmann | Apollonia | Jackmaster | Art Department | Davide Squillace | Gerd Janson | Steve Rachmad | Boris Werner | Konstantin | Edward | Sossa
