Up until a week ago I still had my Valentine wreath hanging on the front door.
I needed a change and wanted a wreath that gently smiled “spring has sprung”!
I used the wire wreath form from last years spring wreath. I had a few terra cotta pots but purchased a few more at Michaels using a coupon. The pots can be found at many craft, dollar and gardening stores for under $1 and often at thrift shops and garage sales for mere pennies.
To give the pots an aged look simply dab on a bit of watered down white paint.
Then lightly sand the painted pots to soften the look even further.
Next wire the pots onto the wire frame. (Make sure your pots have drainage holes at the bottom so you can do this.)
I hot glued on bits and pieces of sheet moss that I had leftover from a previous project.
I filled in the remaining open spaces on the wreath form with burlap ribbon. (Hobby Lobby~ $5.99 a roll regular price, but it was on sale for 50% off.) I used the same technique I shared HERE.
The pots were filled with small bunches of springtime flowers in shades of purple and white. The six pack of blossoms was $2.98 bringing the total cost of the wreath to less than $10.
A light daily misting of water has kept the blooms happy.
Once the desert heat really sets in I think I will transfer the flowers to a larger ground pot and try succulents.
But for now I enjoy the sweet smell of Alyssum every time I open the door.
