Hello, I am Teresa from Stoneleafandcompany, where I write about life and faith and a few other things as well. I am happy and honored to guest post for Laura today. I discovered Laura’s blog a few years ago and she is one of the first blogs I followed when I started my blog in 2011. I have always loved her gracious heart and her style. Thank you, Laura, for inviting me to share some of my favorites colors and corresponding paint colors I have used in my home as well as a smattering of random information about the choices.

When someone asks me my favorite anything – book, movie, historical period, food etc. – I have trouble narrowing down my choice to just one. I always have more than one favorite. Therefore, I can't have just one favorite color. I have a few. When I was in school blue was everybody's favorite color so I chose yellow because I wanted to be different. Turns out yellow is not my favorite color. Blue is. Two shades to be exact. And about fifty shades of white. And orange. Yep. Orange. And pink has even crept onto the list over the past few years.

Cobalt Blue

This is my kitchen accent color. I have always loved cobalt blue bottles and have collected a few over the years. Instead of choosing a China pattern when we were married, I went with the Pfaltzgraff America Collection (now discontinued).

In all our years of marriage I never had a kitchen that specifically matched my dishes, so when we began our remodeling journey in 2010 I knew I wanted to incorporate my dishes in the décor. I even have a chalkboard wall painted in Cobalt Blue.

My kitchen is Country meets Tuscan meets French Country meets Cottage. Or something like that. Hmmm a French County Cottage in Tuscany...that could be fun!

Aqua

As in the Tiffany Blue family color range (I don't own any Tiffany jewelry). The ceiling in what was supposed to be my French Country Dining room, is painted Enamelware blue in the Martha Stewart Palette, which is available at Home Depot and mixed in a Glidden paint base. I also have two interior closets painted in this shade. My front porch ceiling is a Valspar color called Summer Sky. This house (we've lived in many) is only the second time we have had a proper front porch and the first time we could make it ours. I have always wanted a blue porch ceiling. It is a Southern thing. So last year we tackled the front porch, gave it a new ceiling and painted it blue!

White

I love the full palette range of whites. I have the paint chips to prove the love. Does anyone else collect paint chips? It is an obsession. I generally prefer the walls in my house to be light as in some shade of white. Most of my walls are painted Bleached Linen by Behr, mixed in a Valspar base. My kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets and back hallway are painted Flax by Valspar and my bedroom is Honied White by Sherwin Williams. All my trim and ceilings are a Bright White. My sister-in-law- jokes that my house is 50 Shades of White.

This picture is before we moved in. Bleached Linen on the walls. Original cast iron fireplace with slate mantel, that my brother refinished.

Orange

This is my happy color. My sister and I share a love of orange. We discovered this in August 2006 when I visited her in Texas and we decided to paint orange canvasses (neither of us is an artist), but we figured we could handle painting a canvas orange. October was our deadline month. I finally finished mine in December. All four by six inches. I embellished it with a little lime green swirl for an accent. I loved it. I gave it to my sister the next time she came to see me. I don't have a picture to share, but it represented the happy. I never considered that I'd want to decorate with orange. Ever. Until… I saw this laundry room. Which is now my dream laundry room. I'm sure my laundry would always be caught up in this room, and I would love to iron. No?

Pink

This surprised me a little. I've never been a pink girl. I first found it trickling into my decorating thoughts back in 2010 when we were remodeling our little cottage. I kept wanting to add touches, but never really did. Most recently, due to inheriting some things from a family friend, I have found touches of it in my décor such as a set of China and some Pilgrim Cranberry glass.

However, my new pink paint obsession is “Fruit Shake” from Benjamin Moore as you will see in the luscious bathroom below. I am mulling over some plans for a small touch of it in my future (not my bathroom). I'll keep you posted.

Well there you have it, five favorite colors. Thanks for reading. I have enjoyed sharing a little bit of me with you. I would love to hear about your favorite colors, or anything else you'd like to share in the comments.
