Gift Guide for the New Dad
We definitely know what happens in your life and home when a new baby comes home. We’ve had so much fun over the past year watching Cora grow and when I told Dan I was doing this gift guide, he offered to help pick out some items. Take a look at our selections for gifts for the new dad in your life.
1. Gift Card to the Home Improvement Store
This item is a must because there will definitely be some project or other that you are doing at home to get ready for a baby. Painting, fixing, new carpet, whatever. This gift card will be loved by all new parents. BUY IT HERE.
2. iPad Tablet
Dad duty has a lot of down time when waiting for the baby to fall asleep. Dan recommends an iPad so you can still be productive during those hours, or just play some Solitaire <– His words BUY IT HERE.
3. Manly Diaper Bag
This is the diaper bag that Dan and I picked out together. Believe me, diaper bag shopping is overwhelming. There are lots of choices but we went with this one because Dan wouldn’t be embarrassed carrying it, which is an important consideration parenting takes two to Tango! Plus it has a ton of features. I love the over the shoulder strap, side zipper pockets and pocket for a water bottle for me. Diaper bag shopping can be extremely personal, based on (usually) mom’s style, but this bag is great for both parents. We love it and use it every day. BUY IT HERE.
4. Just Me and My Dad
Gifts for dad to spend time with baby are always a good idea. These Little Critter books are high on my list since my mom used to read them to be as a little girl. Remind dad of how special he is and let him read this to your little one. BUY IT HERE.
5. The Baby Owner’s Manual
This is a super funny book, one dads will love. It’s filled with guy humor about how to take care of a newborn, plus I found it helpful for me too! Because hey, every new parent needs instructions! BUY IT HERE.
6. A Great Camera
This is also the exact camera we have. I use it weekly for taking photos of Cora and it’s perfect. They make all kinds of versions of cameras so find the one best for you. The packages are a splurge, but you’ll end up using all the accessories anyway. Dan picked out this one for us, which makes it a great selection for any new dad. BUY IT HERE.
7. Baby Timer
This sounds like a crazy gift, but when you bring a baby home, all you do is time when they have to eat, how long they’ve slept and so on. I wished I had one of these when we had Cora around, so it would be one less thing to remember when you are sleep and food deprived in those early months. It keeps track of naps, meals and more. 8. Books for Making Meals
Ask Dan and he’ll tell you that one awesome part of having a baby is all the food people brought over for us. Otherwise we’d be eating cereal three times a day. Once those meals run out, help dad prepare his own with this guide for making and freezing all kinds of dishes. It will be a lifesaver to just pull something out of the freezer and heat it up. 9. Cup Holder for the Stroller
Mom’s and dad’s both need caffeine when a baby arrives. My husband especially. This cup holder for the stroller (buy one that fits your stroller) is a must-have. BUY IT HERE.

10. The New Dad’s Survival Guide
When we brought Cora home we had so many conversations on what to do with her. Like how long she should sleep, how to get her to sleep and basically all topics related to sleep! I wished I did more reading about baby sleep habits and that Dan had done some of his own reading too. Like the book above, this one is funny tidbits for daddy-ing the baby, only military style so it’s sure to bring some laughs. BUY IT HERE.
