Chelsea Football Club is marking the fact that it has attracted more than 20 million Facebook fans by running an exclusive live Q&A session on the social media site, with three of the team’s biggest stars.

The club’s Spanish internationals – Juan Mata, Fernando Torres and Cesar Azpilicueta – will answer questions from fans at 2pm today (December 20), in a session hosted by Chelsea TV’s Gigi Salmon.

The trio have been warming up for the session with a series of video teasers on Facebook this week – Azpilicueta, Torres and Mata each asking fans to get involved by submitting questions.

Last week, the club shared a celebratory video on Facebook, thanking fans and commemorating the club’s achievements since they joined Facebook in 2009 – a period in which the club has won the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

A recent analysis by RadiumOne calculated by the number of stories shared about each team on popular sports news websites, combined with how effectively each club has been interacting with its fans.

Everton came top, as although they may not have the biggest following, their fans engage the most with their posts. Aston Villa and Manchester City are working hard to keep their fans up-to-date (making 337 and 287 posts on Facebook in just 30 days respectively) but their fans are not getting involved with the content, leaving them near the bottom of the table.

After Everton, Norwich City came second, followed by Manchester United, Southampton and Sunderland. At the bottom of the table, Stoke City, Hull City Tigers and Swansea City would find themselves in the relegation positions as the least socially savvy teams in the league.
