Summer’s off to a great start as I’ve just decided to take a “summer sabbatical” and take as much time as I need to fully recharge. It’s amazing how liberating that decision feels!! When you own your own business, you’re the boss, so you get to do that. But when you own your own business it’s also VERY hard to take time off because, well, frankly, if you do not have a full time staff, you’re pretty much doing it all. You, as CEO, are ALL departments from marketing and sales, to social media and accounting. Oh, and I forgot to mention designing, my number one reason to be in business anyways :-).
But I love it all and wouldn’t want it any other way!! (Okay, maybe I’d like a full time staff…that would be nice)
I just need to be sure to remember that I can’t DO it all if I do not take care of myself. So, you will see only a few scattered blog posts this summer while I recharge, refuel, read, travel, take long walks, stare into the ocean, enjoy swims at Barton Springs Pool, and eat BBQ, lobster and icecream (not all at once!). I was also going to get to sail on a 50 foot sailboat, but my dearest friend (whose sailing around the world starting in December) is not going to be able to sail up to Maine to see me. :-( I’m very bummed about that, but thankful her husband is getting the medical attention needed so they can sail safely away come December. And I’m still going to Deer Isle, so you can’t beat 10 days in Maine bliss at my cousin’s father’s homestead!! (Watch for photos and posts later this summer).
Soooo, if anyone has a friend in Bar Harbor or anywhere up the coast north of Portland and they have a sail boat, I’d love to go out for a sail. Hint…hint!! My father was a great sailor and I definitely miss it and him…and there’s nothing like feeling free out in the middle of the ocean. One of my favorite memories is sailing on Christmas Day in the cold. How exhilarating it was!
But I’m here today because I want to briefly introduce you to this BRAND NEW design channel, or video-centric network, that is EVERYTHING about the home!! The Design Network. I’m so excited to be a part of it, and thank Leslie Carothers of The Kaleidoscope Partnership (who celebrates 12 years today in her business, congrats Leslie!) for telling me about it. (Leslie has lots of exciting ventures to share, including her newest Messages of Hope, so please follow Leslie on Twitter @tkpleslie.)
” The Design Network was created for everyone who shares a passion for all things “home.” We’re dedicated to connecting you with the experts and serving up entertaining, inspiring and instructional videos about interior design, home fashion and style that can be accessed anywhere, anytime.”
And we all know my passion for pillows!! Please check out my channel right HERE.

You can see photos of my pillow designs and one in particular from a gorgeous room (above) designed by Julie Evans of JEI Design. Honored to have my Les Bijoux de Luxe pillows in her client’s home. Please watch my video for the “Pillow Pop Outs”. THIS is my favorite thing about my own TV channel and the videos, because as you watch it my pillow designs will pop out at the bottom of your screen and take you directly to my website Deborah Main Designs to shop for the pillow in the video.
Now how cool is that!?!?
Here’s just one of the many pillows below that will POP out right at you in the video!! Don’t worry….I know it’s a large pillow 36 x 36, but its just a tiny POP out. :-) And I must thank dear friend & marketing guru Ms. Elizabeth Traub for spontaneously making this fun video at the 2013 International Gift & Home Furnishings Market.
