Top stories about the deaf:
Thermopylae Clipper is a ship in a regatta from
Falmouth to Royal Greenwich, competing against
other British ships. This ship is run by an
all-female crew. One of the crew members,
Isobel Johnson, is deaf.
The captioned radio show in Los Angeles may be
shut down. Reason – lack of funding.
The child care workers employed at West Virginia
School for the Deaf and Blind have been promised
job protection provided they complete formal training
within a certain number of years.
The Court of Chief Justice of India has ordered all judges
throughout the country to investigate what has become of
deaf inmates in mental institutions. Some of them were
confined years ago and there are no records of their
whereabouts!
Critics in Australia are saying that CI research is being
heavily funded at the expense of other areas of
science that are badly in need of funds!
The NAD-RID Reputable Agency Task Force has been distributing
four separate surveys. A big issue is “one-man” interpreting
agencies entering the field and competing against established
interpreting agencies!

STUDYING HEARING BODY LANGUAGE
Are Deaf Eyes better than Hearing Eyes? Many hearing
people are liars; they tell many stories that are really
lies.
Many hearing people listen to these lies and believe
them. Deaf people that know body language often can
tell if these stories are true or false.

DEAF VOTE BRIBERY?
Can a group of deaf people be “bribed” to vote in favor
of a hot issue?
Bribe with money? No. A deaf man who wanted the hot issue
to be passed by the members had a different bribe.
He bribed everyone in the meeting room (about 40 delegates)
with beer! Cost of beer multiplied by 40 members is expensive.
Did he win? Yes. If he did not bribe with beer, would he win?
Good question!
