Top stories about the deaf:
The Durham County Council’s Community Action Team
in Great Britain has asked the deaf community to work
with them on ways to improve the town’s accessibility
to them.
The SL First, a new British print magazine for the deaf, already popular, is establishing an on-line version. DeafDigest is not sure if it is a local deaf community
magazine or a nationwide British magazine.
Mayor Michael Rama, of Cebu City, in the Philippines,
has been into name-calling during heated meeting
sessions. He told the council members they were “deaf”
and it is a comment that they did not appreciate.
The mayor said – it is just a comment.
The Arizona auditor general scolded the now-suspended
Superintendent Robert Hill for going over the budget
on his travels.
Lamar University’s new president Kenneth Evans, upon his
official installation ceremony, used sign language during
his speech to officially recognize deaf students attending
university classes.

DEAF EYES; HEARING EYES
Do Deaf Eyes see things differently than
from Hearing Eyes?
DeafDigest editor says yes. A deaf person
can see hidden things on the street that a
hearing person overlooks.
A deaf person immediately knows that a
restaurant is not deaf-friendly. A hearing
person would not know the difference.
A deaf person reads body language better
than hearing.
So, Deaf Eyes and Hearing Eyes, two
different set of eyes!

HEARING AID DISPENSER OR AUDIOLOGIST?
Hearing aid dispensers sell hearing aids. Some audiologists

What is the difference? Many people do not know the difference,

An audiologist, in many states, require Masters’ Degree or even
