Top stories about the deaf:
Many of us have better hearing in one ear than the other
ear, yet we are all equally deaf. This being said, the
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
won a government grant to study the effects of
“Imbalanced hearing”
A great deaf artist is Jonathan Wynn, Willingboro, NJ. He was said to have an eye for color. He is featuring
his paintings this month at the Burlington County Library headquarters in Westampton, NJ.
Because of declining enrollment and budget cuts,
the ASL courses may be dropped at University of North
Carolina at Greensboro. Students are pretty much upset
about it.
Michael Argenyi, a deaf medical student at Creighton University,
is trying to force the university to pay $600,000 in
legal fees. He won the lawsuit, accusing the university of discrimination by not providing for interpreters. The
university says they are not liable for his legal fees.

BROOKINGS INSTITUTION AND THE DEAF
Brookings Institution, in Washington, DC, is a famous
non-profit research, political and economics group. They
advise US government and many corporations on many
things.
If a Gallaudet economics professor told his class
“I worked at Brookings Institution in the past” the
response would be “wow.”
This economics professor taught DeafDigest editor
many years ago in some classes.
Thinking back, DeafDigest editor wonders if it
was really a wow job at Brookings Institution, or
if it was just an entry level job, which is not wow!

FRUSTRATION IN SUBWAY RESTAURANTS
A big frustration with some Subway restaurants.
Some months, Subway posters on the wall show your
favorite sub sandwich. Very easy to point to the
poster to tell the sandwichmaker your choice.
But Subway changes the posters every month -
and your favorite sandwich poster is taken down
and a different poster is on the wall. It shows
a sandwich you don’t like.
Very frustrating!
