Top stories about the deaf:

Ryan Hait-Campbell, a NTID student, was selected as

NAD Youth Ambassador

The Irish government originally planned on cutbacks

on funds that would help the deaf achieve quality

lives. After a huge public outcry, the government

seems to have backtracked.

Pit bulls have been criticized by dog-haters for

being “dangerous” animals. Don’t say it to a

13-year old deaf Indianapolis boy. His pit bull

jumped on his bed while he was sleeping and

licked on his face. He was not trying to be

playful but to alert his deaf master that the

house was on fire! The smoke detector was

working but the deaf boy slept through it!

Yes, he and the pet dog escaped the fire.

A deaf person has filed a lawsuit in New Jersey

against the state Attorney General and two

local police departments for refusing to provide

an interpreter during a traffic stop and during

his stay at jail.

A young man became deaf after serving

in the military, and immediately applied for

VA benefits. Finally after 26 years of waiting

his application was approved.

A CASHIER THAT INSULTS THE DEAF

DeafDigest editor went to a store to buy something. He paid

for it at the cash register.

The cashier, afraid to communicate with the deaf, put the money

in the cash register and pressed the cash register.

DeafDigest editor saw the cash display screen and knew how

much money it cost. But the cashier went around the counter to

the front of the cash register to point his finger at the money

amount that was paid.

Very insulting! Makes DeafDigest editor look stupid.
