Top stories about the deaf:

Discovery Digital Networks, a provider of

videos, said that captions help increase the web traffic views.

The Wilmington Club for the Deaf Inc.

in Delaware has put its clubhouse building

for sale. Reason is low attendance at club

events. Club officers have reached out to the

deaf community to visit the clubhouse but

attendance continued to be low. The club will

continue but without its clubhouse.

If you are a fork lift operator, the NAD wishes

to hear from you. More information at:

A business dispute that has involved a deaf-owned

interpreting company in Great Britain resulted

in an arson attack of the company headquarters.

The police has arrested one person and is seeking

other suspects.

The North Dakota School for the Deaf has a new

superintendent – Connie Hovendick. While the

Devils Lake campus has very low enrollment,

the school serves the entire state and has outreach offices in Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck, Minot and Rolla.

LONG LINE OF DEAF PEOPLE WAITING FOR HOTEL BUS

True story about 40 years ago. At a national

deaf basketball tournament, a bus brought deaf

fans from the hotel to the tournament gym.

One night after the games were over, there

was a long line of deaf people waiting for the

bus.

They waited for almost one hour before the

bus finally arrived.

Why was the wait long? Because the tournament

committee was broke and had no money. The bus

drivers wanted to be paid first or they won’t

pick up deaf fans!

DEAF SOAP OPERA OR DEAF FAMILY FRIENDLY TV SHOW

The ABCFamily network is supposed to show only family

friendly TV programs. Yet there are accusations that

the Switched at Birth is more of a Soap Opera than

as a Family Friendly TV show.

They are saying that if it is really a soap opera then it should be moved to these daytime soap opera channels.

There were many plots on the Switched at Birth episodes that are not appropriate for viewers of the ABCFamily network.

Rene Pellerin’s corner:

Public restrooms are difficult for me, since each

bathroom is designed differently. My 8 year old grandson

has been very helpful guiding me to the bathroom. He will

pull my arm then get in back of me and push me to the

urinal stall! Then he would take my arm and place my hand

under the soap dispenser and guide me to the water facet.

And. for a grand finale, he will guide me to the turbo

By the way, my new cane, a few months old, has a rolling
