The new 2017 Ford GT supercar recently rolled off the line at the Multimatic facility in Markham, Ontario. Perhaps that's a misnomer; this beast doesn't roll anywhere – it prowls.

Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development, and chief technical officer, drove the first Ford GT off the assembly line.

"The all-new Ford GT is a showcase of our strength in innovation and our commitment to delivering more for our customers – especially related to light-weight materials, aerodynamics and EcoBoost® engine technologies."

The launch garnered accolades from media around the globe. Here's what some of them had to say.

Driving declares:

"All-conquering 2017 Ford GT is Canada's supercar secret."
AND

"Ever heard of Multimatic? That Canadian company brings Ford's GT supercar to life."

The Detroit News raves:

"The supercar includes a number of lightweighting tricks, including a carbon-fibre tub and a gorilla-glass windshield that is 12 pounds lighter than a traditional windshield."

Auto World News says the Ontario-built Ford GT is:

"One of the most awaited cars of the year."

NBC Sports calls it:

"Gorgeous."

MSN Autos showcases an article from Motor Trend that features a stunning slideshow while stating:

"The 2017 Ford GT seems like it could be every bit as capable as the McLaren 675LT, as engaging as the Ferrari 488 GTB, and as accessible as the Porsche 911 GT3."

In 2017, Invest in Ontario will delve deeper into the manufacturing journey of this spectacular masterwork of automotive engineering. For now, we'll just let the awe sink in.
