Washington Youth Garden – Family Garden Day

Family Garden Days is an interactive family gardening, nutrition education, and cooking program. It is designed to bring families together at the Washington Youth Garden to share in a communal experience of learning how to grow and prepare fruits and vegetables, maintain an organic garden, and prepare healthy meals. Tailored to beginning gardeners and those looking to enhance their food and wellness practices, the program is an exciting opportunity for families to grow awareness, appreciation and connections to their food sources and engage in healthy life affirming outdoor activities! Stories in Art introduces children ages 4 to 7 to artists through careful looking, storytelling, and hands-on experimentation. Led by museum educators, each program includes reading a children’s book, exploring one work of art in the galleries, and completing a simple hands-on activity. Each program is approximately 60 minutes.

As a courtesy to the group, we will only accept sign-in for children in the age ranges listed.

Arts in the Parks is a FREE family fun alternative to Saturday & Wednesday morning cartoons & video games. Bowie Baysox – Celebrate Batman’s 75th Anniversary with Superhero Night & Rock With Rocknoceros

The fun for kids and family will begin at 4:00 p.m. when the stadium gates open for the concert. Rocknoceros is scheduled to perform at 4:15 p.m. Regular stadium gates will open after the concert at 5:30 p.m.
During Superhero Night, the Baysox will celebrate Batman’s 75th Anniversary. Batman, the Batmobile and more of your favorite superheroes will be in attendance, presented by the Alliance for Consumer Education. Fans will be able to take pictures with all their favorite superheroes during a special meet-and-greet session. Be sure to also dress up as your favorite superhero and cheer them on as they help fight crime on the field during in-game promotions.

The Kennedy Center and Dizzy Feet Foundation, in conjunction with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, present a free, two-hour celebration featuring performances by AXIS Dance Company, dance lessons, and talent from Dizzy Feet Foundation including Jenna Elfman and hip-hop dancer Fik-Shun in honor of National Dance Day. AXIS offers a program of physically integrated dance, evolving from collaboration between dancers with and without disabilities in celebration of the 24th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and National Council on Independent Living Conference. This performance is supported by the Rosemary Kennedy Education Fund, a Jean Kennedy Smith Arts and Disability Program.
