Job Summary
DDC-ITS is seeking a qualified candidate to write technical documents to support the Air Force Logistics IT community. Seeking a motivated and energetic Technical Writer to join our superb team of software developers, business analysts and data management professionals. We want a dedicated individual who wants to learn and expand their technical writing skill and provide exceptional documentation support to the team.
Primary responsibilities
+ Experience in the research and preparation of technical materials. Also requires knowledge of the principles and practices of technical research, writing, and editing
+ Prepares and edits a wide variety of complex technical materials for publication, including user’s manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports; reviews, researches, and edits information for preparation of contract deliverables; provides support to the creation of proposals and multi-media presentation materials, including slides; responsible for the coordination of multiple aspects of document publication; participates in the design and development of marketing brochures, conference programs and proceedings, public relations announcements, and other materials when requested; graphics and/or technical writing staff; coordinates and attends various conferences and meetings to support the client; Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples.
+ Create user documentation for a variety of material, including how-to guides and instruction manuals.
+ Participates in the design and development of marketing brochures, conference programs, and other materials when requested.
+ Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technical documentation staff members.
Job Related Experience:
+ 5+ years’ experience creating product documentation and user assistance is required.
+ Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and meet deadlines.
+ Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as a team member in a collaborative environment.
+ Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interview technical and non-technical subject matter experts to gain an understanding of the software and create the proper level of product documentation for the audience.
+ Attention to detail and accuracy in deliverables is required.
Required Skills:
+ Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in technical research, writing and editing.
+ Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point and or Visio. Knowledge and ability to use various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications.
+ Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
+ Proven ability to support multiple projects and tasks at once, and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced work environment to meet deadlines.
+ Ability to work professionally, effectively, and efficiently in a team environment with various stakeholders.
Desired Skills:
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft SharePoint.
+ Experience working in a technical environment.
+ Ability to smoothly manage work assignments and excel in a stressful environment while working independently
+ Positive attitude and dedication.
+ Experience in delivering training materials to a broad audience with specific emphasis on training of new software for end users.
- A Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, English, Journalism, or equivalent experience in a related discipline. Additional coursework in user assistance development, technical writing, or instructional design is preferred.
