The Center for Operational Analysis (COA) is a premier research facility within the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and Dayton, Ohio. The COA directly supports Department of Defense (DoD) Senior Leader strategic objectives. This is a full-time, renewable 2-year term, entry-level post-doctoral Research Associate (RA) position within the COA. The RA will report directly to the COA’s Director of Research and support the overall research objectives of Director of Research. Education: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Operations Research. Applicant’s Ph.D. must have been earned from an accredited U.S. university. Applicant’s Ph.D. must have been awarded within the past three (3) years/ thirty-six (36) months. Applicants must provide a minimum of two professional letters of recommendation, transcript(s) for all graduate education applied to the Ph.D. degree and a single-page summary curriculum vita or resume which includes telephone number and e-mail address. Experience: Qualified applicants should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: optimization, stochastic processes, simulation, statistics, data analysis, decision analysis, machine learning, systems analysis, algorithms, and/or graph theory. Representative duties may include mathematical modeling of complex systems and business processes, development of algorithms, application of advanced data analytics, and coauthor participation in peer-reviewed journal submissions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ideal applicant will possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to actively engage with the COA’s industry and research partners to develop quantitatively defensible solutions to a wide range of complex problems and collaboratively assist the COA in its efforts to provide exceptional service to DoD Senior Leaders.
