## Job Summary/Basic Function

This position is a dual role position to provide mission critical support for the university’s enterprise storage services along with the enterprise Unix/Linux server environment.

## Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 5 years of related work experience including Unix/Linux administration, enterprise storage arrays, Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, enterprise backup services, disaster recovery and the security related aspects of these services.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux Operating Systems and enterprise storage sub-systems. Practical working knowledge of network protocols and fundamentals. Ability to work independently yet contribute to the overall success of the team. Ability to learn new technologies rapidly. Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of computer languages and concepts commonly used in administering enterprise systems and services. Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support.

## Preferred Qualifications

Management skills related to EMC’s VNX, XtremIO and Isilon storage products. Experience managing RHEL/Centos/Oracle Linux based operating environments.

## Essential Functions and percent of time

30% Provide enterprise storage administration including monitoring, provisioning, space management and problem resolution. Administer backup solutions for the protection of the university mission critical data. Perform recovery of lost or damaged files as needed.

30% Provide administration support of the Unix/Linux server environment and associated services.

20% Provide on-going monitoring and analysis of the storage and server environments to ensure a secure and reliable operating environment. Assist with the development of clustered/redundant services and replication of data and services for disaster recovery purposes.

10% Participate in feasibility studies and technical evaluations of new software and hardware strategies. Assist internal/external departments in determining capital costs, ongoing costs and personnel requirements for these aforementioned systems.

5% Supervise and coordinate work with outside vendors for proper monitoring, maintenance and configuration.

5% Other duties as assigned.
