The Senior Cloud Engineer is accountable for delivery of Unix/Linux services supporting RETS and the LexisNexis application portfolio. The candidate will provide analytical, technical, and administrative support for on-premise, cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure services and related software tools.

Accountabilities:

* Works closely with infrastructure and development teams to define, configure and manage Unix/Linux services.

* Provides innovative designs and develops current infrastructures into IaaS and PaaS systems within and beyond current data centers.

* Provides for the effective provisioning of Unix/Linux services.

* Responsible for scheduling and implementing Unix/Linux changes in compliance with Change Management policies.

* Responsible for Problem Management of complex and recurring Unix/Linux incidents.

* Responsible for installation, maintenance, security, performance and tuning of Unix/Linux systems and related software.

* Ensures close technical interchanges on Unix/Linux related issues with system administrators, hardware and storage engineers, project managers, and operations personnel as necessary.

* Recommends and aids in the definition of Unix/Linux strategies, policies, standards, and procedures which are consistent with the Company mission.

* Participates on new product development/enhancement teams.

* Actively participates and often leads team meetings and activities.

* Provides estimates on human resource expenditures and capacity (disk, cpu, and memory) needed to support new projects or enhancements to existing applications/products.

* Responsible for research, risk assessment, design and validation of emerging and/or improved infrastructure technologies and services related to Unix/Linux management.

* Follow security guidelines for the proper delegation of accounts and privileges.

* Provides consulting services to internal personnel, contractors, and vendors for database services.

* Responsible for Level 3 on-call support.

* A Bachelor's degree (Information Systems, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.

* Minimum 5 years experience with supporting Unix/Linux server operating systems including Red Hat 5x - 6x and Solaris in a large, corporate environment.

* Minimum 2 years experience with supporting server images hosted by a cloud provider, in particular Amazon Web Services (AWS).

* Knowledge and understanding of web server concepts and technologies required.

* Solid grasp of network concepts, configuration, routing.

* Understanding of SAN and NAS technologies.

* Familiar with DB server configurations including Oracle RAC and Marklogic on RHEL Cluster with GFS.

* Experience with the management of virtual machines hosted on VMware ESX.

* Experience with vendor-specific hardware remote console access mechanisms, including Dell, HP, Oracle.

* Understanding of Oracle M and T series systems along with Solaris virtualization (LDOMS, Zones).

* Understanding of HPSA configuration management.

* Experience with Unix/Linux performance monitoring and tuning.

* Advanced Unix/Linux troubleshooting and analysis.

* Solid interpersonal, communication and follow up skills (verbal and written) required.

* Ability to define, analyze and resolve issues both effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure production environment.
