## Job Summary/Basic Function

To administer financial aid and process financial aid records in a timely and accurate manner. Provide in-depth knowledge of financial aid records within the Banner Financial Aid Module and external databases and to report financial aid expenditures to internal constituents. This position maintains the accuracy of financial aid records from the beginning of the financial aid process until year-end closeout and requires the utilization of the most up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and procedures. This position also requires communication with external constituents, such as the U.S. Department of Education, Ohio Department of Education, and lending institutions and the use of their software programs, such as the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), EdConnect, Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG), FAA Access to CPS Online, and the Common Origination & Disbursement (COD) website.

## Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and four years (FT) of related work experience, OR two years of post-secondary education and two years of (FT) related work experience, OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year (FT) of related work experience. Excellent verbal/communication skills. Budget management experience. Ability to calculate whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percentages. Thorough knowledge and skills to utilize current office equipment and a variety of complex software packages.

## Essential Functions and percent of time

35% Financial Aid Applicant Processing:

* Manually match suspended FAFSA records to student accounts and update financial aid applicant statuses in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.

* Execute internal reports and monitor FAFSA records and identify and resolve discrepant data in accordance with federal and institutional policies and procedures (e.g., data discrepancies, comment codes [C-Flags], etc.).

* Execute internal reports and monitor and evaluate NSLDS financial aid history and update financial aid applicant records in accordance with federal and institutional policies and procedures.

* Send daily mass email communications to financial aid applicants and submit weekly mailing requests to Printing Services.

35% Financial Aid Applicant Record Maintenance:

* Execute Banner reports, update Banner Student records, perform the Federal Return of Title IV Funds calculation, and return, cancel, and re-award financial aid in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid policies and procedures for federal student aid recipients who withdrawal .

* Execute internal and Banner reports and evaluate and adjust or return financial aid awards for students who change enrollment, who are over-awarded, or who have a change in financial aid eligibility in accordance with federal, state, institutional and private policies and procedures.

* Respond to financial aid requests from student recipients or internal and external constituents for award adjustments.

* Scan and index financial aid records into WebXtender.

20% Federal Direct Loan Processing:

* Originate, update, and return Direct Loans in accordance with federal and institutional policies and procedures.

* Export and import Direct Loan batch files to and from Banner and external software programs, such as EDconnect, SAIG, and COD website.

* Execute Banner and internal reports to monitor and adjust loan records in accordance with federal, institutional, and private policies and procedures.

10% Administrative and Other Duties:

* Provide financial aid training to staff and interpret/report financial aid records to internal and external constituents.

* Maintain and review federal, state, institutional and private policies and procedures governing financial aid programs.

* Monitor federal and state aid expenditures and request the draw down of federal student aid funds and the reimbursement of state aid funds, perform monthly/term reconciliation process, and year-end closeout in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.

* Other duties as assigned when needed.
