AES Distributed Energy (DE), a division of AES’s US Business (US SBU), is currently seeking a **Manager of Asset Operations**to ensure optimal production, availability, and compliance for over 200 commercial sites that will total approximately 90 MW of Solar PV capacity by year end 2016. Reporting to the Director of DE Asset Operations, this management position will provide the leadership and process improvements necessary to scale our in-house Solar Operations Center and contracted Operations and Maintenance providers through a period of rapid expansion of distributed PV solar projects in our US markets. Additionally, this leader will work cross-functionally to evaluate market opportunities, integrate our operations with the US SBU, and enhance internal and 3rd party operational partnerships.

Working cross functionally with our Operations, Legal, Business Development, and Accounting teams, the Manager of Asset Operations will be accountable to 1) operate our current and expanding commercial / utility portfolios, 2) meet or exceed our budget and KPIs for energy production, revenue, and up-time, and 3) ensure DE contractually covers all overhead and direct project company costs through appropriate project company pricing and reserve mechanisms. AES DE is currently overseeing construction of 30MW of PV projects in CA, GA and MA, and is in late stage development of an additional 75MW of projects to bring into construction by end of 1H 2017.

The successful candidate will have a depth of experience in the renewable energy generation industry, a track record of project development and operations, and the demonstrated ability to build high performing teams as well as new capabilities. This position will be based in Boulder, CO.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* _Asset Management and Oversight of the Solar Operations Center (2-3 direct reports):_
* Remote Physical Plant Management and Solar Array Monitoring
* Scheduled Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Action Coordination
* Data Acquisition Platform Management
* Energy Billing and Incentive Management (in collaboration with DE Accounting)
* Site Host and Utility Relations
* Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Performance Reporting
* Annual budget and business plan
* _Operations and Maintenance Contractor Management:_ Develop and maintain relationships with maintenance service and monitoring system providers to ensure optimal performance for existing assets and best sourcing and contracting terms for portfolio expansion. Negotiate contracts and manage operating expenses.
* _Warranty Management:_ Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and turnkey EPC providers and manage any warranty claims.
* _Insurance:_ Co-manage relationship with DE’s Insurance broker to ensure each Project Company has optimal Property and Casualty coverage in place, including provision of historic and project operating data and site replacement cost estimates. Manage any insurance claims.
* _Due Diligence for Project Development:_ Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering and Construction teams to assess project acquisition opportunities by providing O&M; cost, fee, and reserve assumptions, scopes of work, and related contracting terms. Ensure construction scope of work enables 30 year operational life of the plant.
* _Finance and Regulatory Compliance Management:_ Manage internal Operations departmental reporting requirements, including US Treasury filings, operating reports and other finance and utility compliance activities.
* _Platform Process Improvements and KPIs_: Identify opportunities for efficiencies and automation to increase productivity. Improve and enhance current reporting outputs and KPIs, leading to more accurate and efficient portfolio reporting.

**Skills and Qualifications:**

* 5-7 years professional experience in Operations, Engineering, Construction or Project Management – solar energy experience strongly preferred.
* Experience utilizing CRM, PMP, and ERP systems, developing metrics and dashboards, and managing operations teams and contractors through the use of database tools and metrics.
* Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field. Master’s preferred.
* Familiarity with data acquisition systems and SCADA systems a plus.
* Project Management Institute CAPM or PMP certification a plus.
* Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Willingness and ability to travel up to 35%.
* Spanish language skills a plus.
