**Consulting Network Implementation Engineer**

The Network Implementation Engineer will be responsible for the detailed planning, execution, testing, and operational turnover for network efforts within the Reed Elsevier Technology Services (RETS) organization. In addition to implementation responsibilities, the engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership within the Global Network Implementation team and representing the implementation team within the RETS organization.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Configure, Implement, Test, and Support (as necessary) any new, changed or existing network infrastructures in the Security (F5 / PA), LAN/WAN and Data Center environments.

* Providing technical and project direction for vendors and GNI staff in support of either strategic or business driven efforts.

* Interfacing with both Global Network Engineering, Global Network Operations and across the Reed Elsevier Technology organizations to ensure successful interactions.

**Qualifications**

**Technical Competencies:**

* Proven design and build experience for Security, WAN, LAN & Data Centers as well as excellent problem troubleshooting and resolution skills.

In-depth knowledge of and proven implementation and support experience in:

* F5 Load Balancing suite of products including SSL acceleration (configuration, installation and operations).

* F5 Big IP

* Viprion Platform - LTM/GTM/ASM V:11

* Palo Alto

* Cisco Routers

* Cisco Switches

* Wireless technologies

* Bluecoat Proxy and Juniper SSL VPN solution.

* Secure Track Tufin, Cisco secure ACS & Envision

* Network Management tools (NetScout, Spectrum, Cisco Prime, NetBrain, Bluecoat, F5 LTM, GTM, ASM, APM)

**Preferred Certifications**

* F5 Certifications (LTM, GTM, ASM)

* Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCSP/CCDP

* Checkpoint CCSA, CCSE (R70 and above)

* Palo Alto ACE, CNSE (v5 or v6)

* ISC2 CISSP

* ITIL v3

**General Knowledge and Technical skills**

Excellent knowledge & experience for Implementing network projects and upgrades as well as support and troubleshooting within the LAN, WAN and Security environments.

Network LAN / WAN / Data Center

* Implement, Maintain & Support network equipment and infrastructure. Consisting mainly of Cisco switches, routers as well as wireless controllers and AP’s.

* Solid understanding of telecommunications/network switching and routing principles.

Network Security

* Implement, Maintain & Support network security equipment and infrastructure, including firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, authentication access, web content filtering and remote access methods.

* Knowledge of the latest network security risks, exploits, and vulnerabilities.

* Expert understanding of Security industry classifications and regulations (PII, PCI, SOX, HIPAA, etc)

**Education/Experience**

* Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

* Network and/or Telecommunications certifications preferred.

* CISSP Certification required for security-related work

* 10-15 years IT work experience that includes complex "hands-on" design and implementation experience with network/security hardware and software.

* Implementation experience in a corporate environment required.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Proactive, self-motivated individual with a passion for innovation and customer focus and an ability to work independently, lead and influence others

* ITIL Awareness and Foundation V3 certification preferred
