Hi there!

Welcome back for another fun Papertrey Group Post!  Today, we're looking back at the year 2011, which is when my Background Basics: Newsprint stamp set came out.  I have loved this set ever since, because you can do so much with it!  Whether you go with traditional black and white and make it look like a realistic newspaper, or stamp it in color on white or color on color, you can totally change up it's look making it really soft and subtle or really eye-catching.  And the great thing about it is that it can be used on either masculine or feminine cards!  For today, I paired it with Fresh Bouquet and one of the Family Ties: For the Girls dies.

The white card stock base was die cut with a noted: scalloped A1 die and I cut the die cut in half and just used one half of it.   I stamped the newsprint in hibiscus burst ink and added a coordinating die cut "Mom" at the bottom.  The bouquet was watercolored on watercolor card stock with my Zig markers and everything was mounted on a melon berry card base.

Here's a fun little bit of stamp design trivia for you regarding Background Basics: Newsprint!  I wrote all the little "articles" for the newspaper images and if you've been hanging around long enough, you might recognize the first names of some of the people in the articles!  I incorporated my family's first names!  Haha.  I had to use names so I figured I might as well go with ones that mean something to me!  Those little articles make me smile every time I read them.  It's fun to imagine my family as characters from 1895!  Oh, and the newspaper date at the top?  That's our wedding anniversary!  March 10!  So there's your little bit of trivia for the day!  ;)

How about a peek at some more cards I made with Background Basics: Newsprint over the years....
