I remember when I started out in MLM, how over excited and ambitious as I was. It led to a lackluster performance in the end. So, here are 5 tips to help people see you as a truly professional network marketer, something they saw me as, eventually, as I learned and grew my business.

Seriously, I started out as excited as anyone could be about the freedom and financial rewards that could be had via network marketing.

However, it was not until I took seriously the 5 following tips I want to give you that helped me turn the corner, and become a part of other peoples success stories, which in turn created my own.

Never Take Offense.

“You are part of a pyramid scheme!?”

Okay, that is not the only misinformed question, and even a statement I get about this wonderful industry from time to time. So no, you are not the only one.

It makes you writhe in anger for a moment, doesn’t it? It makes you just boil over with anger, and you just want to point out that they too are in a pyramid type of business model, they just do not know it yet.

But it is not in the fact that you can’t tell them that, as a matter of fact, when the time comes, you should explain to people how a free society, and the economy to go with it, works like a pyramid, it is just who’s dream you are building in that pyramid that matters.

However, when your blood is boiling, this might not be the time to spout off the philosophy that is taught in the finest business schools in the country, and that every successful network marketers know in his or her heart to be true.

At this moment it is time to listen, to question when you should, and chill out a bit if you do not mind me stealing a little phrase from the millennials.

Tip #1 – Never take offense as someone else’s misunderstanding, because that is what it is, a misunderstanding.

Be a professional network marketer, “slow to anger, and slow to speak.” And you can guess where I got that advice?

Do Not Make It Sound Too Good To Be True.

Never add the hype. I see this all the time, even from people of whom I have coached online, and no, I did not teach them to do that.

There are many great things about your business; I know there is of mine. So why fill it full of hyperbole? Why make it sound better than anything else in the world? Like I said, it might be, but too much is just that, too much for many people to handle.

I get it “rock stars,” I get you want nothing but money, money, money by the pound, but a successful network marketer only earns that money when others do.

Stop. Your revenue share program and empty and void of all real products or services are just that, empty. But if you have something real, something that truly changes lives, then let it speak for itself, all your job is to share it.

Tip #2 – Never fill people with hype, you’ll end up looking like a ding-dong, period.

Oh, and leave revenue share programs alone, that is not network marketing, it is a literal Ponzi Scheme.

Learn Good Marketing Habits Online & Off.

My personal business is changing lives for the better, and I mean the healthy side of life. The income and success are just a reflection of the lives improved.

However, you and I need to market; we need to get out our brand and it’s message out there, period. “Network” is a great sounding word, but when you put Marketing next to it, it makes it a powerful and life-changing phrase.

Learning effective online and offline marketing skills is invaluable, as invaluable as the products or services you promote through your company in fact.

Like a lot of other things in life, there are right ways to market and promote your opportunity, and there are wrong ways to do it.

Tip# 3 – Learn how to market and promote your business and opportunity the right way the first time, and you will save yourself a lot of time and money!

Say Little, Listen More.

The last few tips here I will keep short, and the reason is simple, they are and or, should be, common sense.

Shut up!

Simple huh?

Seriously, most network marketers, especially new MLM’ers here speak far more than they listen. And just so you know, you could double, triple and even quadruple your recruiting efforts by just simply listening and asking questions here and there.

As a matter of fact, and I truly believe this myself, people usually recruit themselves into an opportunity, seriously.

As another matter of fact I usually ask two questions when starting up the conversation of my opportunity;

“why are you open to change and opportunity in your life right now?”

Then, “If you could get rid of one obstacle with building your own network marketing business with me, what would it be?”

Common sense after that suggests that you listen to the answers, and always be ready to ask the “why” behind them.

Tip# 4 – Say little, and be ready to listen and ask questions along the way.

Start listening, asking questions, and oh yeah, LISTENING!

Find The Right People.

Quit screaming, listen and learn what people have to say and you will find that they to have many of the same desires and needs you have, or had before you stepped into nework marketing.

This will put you in front of what the “internet marketing world” calls the “perfect buyer persona.” Personally speaking, I just call them friends with a particular need or want that I can help them with.

Tip# 4 – do Tip #3 and watch as your prospect list grows naturally because of asking the right questions.

No need to hassle people, or spam them online, just listen and ask the right questions at the right time and watch your business grow!

A Bonus Tip For You, The Professional Network Marketer…

Be a professional network marketer, not some everyday-I-look-to-get-rich-quick marketer.

Look to help people first, and never make it feel like you are selling them something. Like you, I never feel sold when I see something I need or want, because in the end, I need or want it, all I need is a little nudge in the right direction, and you can listen to me right through that…
