A few small, but interesting news bits about the “Star Wars” franchise have come forward in the last few days. Here are some of the highlights.

Runtime

First up, Gareth Edwards’ “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is said to have a runtime of 133 minutes, a reveal that has come through a listing on an Australian film exhibitor page. That would be the same runtime as “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” and somewhere in the middle of the range of ‘Wars’ films. The film is also set to open in several countries a day earlier than the United States, hitting Thursday December 15th.

Alan Tudyk

While Alan Tudyk’s voice can be heard as the reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the “Firefly” actor revealed in a Reddit AMA that he also had a live-action cameo in the film as a pilot, but it was cut out during post-production.

Star Wars: Catalyst

Ahead of ‘Rogue One,’ a prequel novel is set to be released entitled “Star Wars: Catalyst” with an excerpt released to USA Today revealing that Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and Galen (Mads Mikkelsen) had a warm friendship before the events of ‘Rogue One’ and the former saved both Galen and his daughter Jyn Erso from captivity. That book hits stores November 15th.

Losing The Millennium Falcon

THR’s Borys Kit has revealed that according to several sources, the upcoming young Han Solo spin-off film will reveal how the smuggler (Alden Ehrenreich) won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).

Ava DuVernay’s Contribution

More from the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” new 3D Blu-ray commentary track has been revealed with comments from director J.J. Abrams about one key scene in the film. Seems “Selma” filmmaker Ava DuVernay had a say in one particular shot during the film’s finale.
