Production is slated to begin shortly on “Howards End,” a new four-hour event series adaptation of the classic E.M. Forster novel for The BBC & Starz.

“Manchester by the Sea” writer/director Kenneth Lonergan is penning the script for the series which “White Girl” filmmaker Hettie Macdonald is set to direct. Hayley Atwell will portray Margaret Schlegel, Matthew Macfadyen is Henry Wilcox, and Tracey Ullman is Aunt Juley Mund in the series.

The story explores the changing landscape of social and class divisions in turn of the century England through the prism of three families – one wealthy, one working class and one of idealistic intellectuals.

“Howards End” will film in and around London and will air on BBC One in the UK and STARZ in the United States.
