Nuestro chofer de Uber manejaba a gran velocidad por el Périph en camino a la Place Charles de Gaulle, mejor conocida por ser donde se encuentra el legendario Arco del Triunfo de Paris. Llegar a Paris siempre es algo increíble y conforme nos acercamos a la zona turística la emoción aumenta. Rodeamos la mundialmente famosa glorieta vemos a lo lejos la inconfundible fachada de cristal ondulado diseñada por el arquitecto Christian de Portzamparc, que nos indica que hemos llegado al Hotel Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe.
La ubicación es privilegiada; sobre la Avenue du Wagram, enmarcada por restaurantes y comercios para todo tipo de gustos, se levanta el distrito donde se ubica el hotel de diseño contemporáneo, que acoge algunas de las atracciones turísticas más famosas en todo París.
El hotel nos recibe con una pequeña sala moderna junto a la cual está el front desk, flores y originales lámparas decoran el espacio, iluminado por colores que hacen homenaje a la “Ciudad de la Luz”. Recorremos el pasillo que conduce al Makassar, un restaurante de comida francesa contemporánea cuyas enormes ventanas se asoman a la terraza y jardín del hotel que en la mañana seguramente visitaremos. Por lo pronto es tiempo de instalarnos en nuestra habitación.
Una espacio que te permita disfrutar los monumentos icónicos de París es uno de los lujos que debes darte al menos una vez en la vida, al menos por sólo un par de noches. Así que después de subir al último piso del Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe en un elevador iluminado en azul neón, abrimos la puerta de una de las 5 París Sky View Suites, que por más o menos 600 euros, nos mostró una de las más bellas postales que ofrece esta ciudad con miles de años de historia.
Es difícil dejar tu habitación cuando además de amenidades de Bvlgari y Nespresso, tienes una terraza privada con vista a la Torre Eiffel y el Árco del Triunfo, pero la noche parisina promete, así que dejamos las maletas y regresamos al lounge del Makassar a tomar unos tragos para después salir a caminar por la plaza Charles de Gaulle a escasas tres cuadras del Renaissance.
Si cuentas con una membresía Marriott Rewards oro o platino, puedes tener acceso al desayuno americano gratuito que se sirve por las mañanas; el perfecto petit déjeuner para empezar el día, y aunque nos hubiera encantado pasar más tiempo descansando en una de las camas más cómodas en las que hemos dormido, sabíamos que París nos esperaba y que el tiempo nunca será suficiente para recorrer sus calles, así que seguimos las recomendaciones del Navigator, un concierge encargado de hacer una curaduría de las mejores joyas escondidas de la ciudad. Sin duda uno de los mejores valores agregados del hotel, ya que eso nos ayudó a aprovechar mejor el día.
Después de un largo día de caminata, las habitaciones del Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe son una excelente opción para descansar en una ciudad con una oferta tan extensa; todas las noches te reciben con pequeños detalles que haran de este hotel tu primera opción para la próxima vez que visites París.
Our Uber choffer drove at great speed down the Périph on the way to Place Charles de Gaulle, the site best known for housing the legendary Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Arriving to Paris is always an amazing experience and as we approached the tourist area the excitement increased. We took the exit of the world-famous roundabout and saw in the distance the unmistakable corrugated glass facade designed by Christian de Portzamparc, which told us that we had arrived at the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe.
The location is privileged; on Avenue du Wagram, framed by restaurants and shops for all kinds of tastes, stands the district where the contemporary design hotel is located, which houses some of the most famous tourist attractions throughout Paris.
The hotel welcomes us with a small modern living room next to the front desk, flowers and original lamps decorate the space, illuminated by colors that pay homage to the “City of Lights”. We walk along the corridor leading to the Makassar, a contemporary French restaurant with huge windows overlooking the hotel’s terrace and garden, which in the morning will surely visit. For now it is time to settle in our room.
A space that allows you to enjoy the iconic monuments of Paris is one of the luxuries that you must try at least once in your life, if only for just a couple of nights. So after climbing to the top floor of the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe in a neon-lit elevator, we opened the door to one of the 5 Paris Sky View Suites, which for about 600 euros, showed us one of the most beautiful postcards this city has to offer.
It is difficult to leave your room when in addition to Bvlgari and Nespresso amenities, you have a private terrace overlooking the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, but the Parisian night is promising, so we leave our bags and return to the Makassar lounge to take some drinks and then go for a walk around the Place Charles de Gaulle, just three blocks from the Renaissance.
If you have a Gold or Platinum Marriott Rewards membership, you can access the free American Breakfast served in the mornings; the perfect petit déjeuner to start the day, and although we would have loved to spend more time resting on one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in, we knew that Paris was waiting for us and that time will never be enough to walk its streets. We followed the recommendations of the Navigator, a concierge in charge of curating the best hidden jewels of the city. Certainly one of the best added values of the hotel, as that helped us to make the most of the day.
After a long day of exploring the city, the rooms at the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe are an excellent choice to rest in a city with such an extensive offer; every night you are greeted with small details that will make this hotel your first choice for the next time you visit Paris.
