Entrance to Kabuki Restaurants

Last Thursday I attended a Sake Tour at Kabuki Japanese Restaurant at the Irvine Spectrum in Irvine, California.  I had never attended a Sake event before, but I do love sake so I was quite excited to be invited.  Irvine was the first place in Orange County to host the Sake Tour at Kabuki restaurants, but there was also one last night in Huntington Beach and another one tonight in Brea, so read on my friends because you are not going to want to miss it!!  There will also be three more tours coming up in Pasadena, Hollywood & Old Pasadena on May 14, 15, & 22nd.  See website for details –> KABUKI SAKE TOURS

Dani with Master Sake Sommelier, Yuji Matsumoto

The tour is led by Master Sake Sommelier Yuji Matsumoto, one of only two Master Sake Sommeliers recognized by the Sake Service Institute of Japan currently in North America.  This is pretty cool because you can ask Yuji anything about sake and he will be able to tell you about it and what type of food it will pair best with as well.  In addition to Sake, you will also have the opportunity to try

Kawaba Beer and Ginzano Suzumi Soju

“Ginza No Suzume” Premium Shochu and “Kawaba,” a unique craft beer and soon-to-be new addition to the Kabuki menu.  I enjoyed tasting all of the different sakes at the event, but I have to say the Kawaba beer was amazing!  The one I tried was called a Snow Wiezen and it tasted quite similar to a Hefeweizen beer.  It was cool, crisp and refreshing. In addition to the beverages, we also had the opportunity to try a variety of sushi, rolls and appetizers with each drink tasting.

Kabuki Never Ending Sushi Boat

The last Sake tasting will be held tonight at the Kabuki Japanese Restaurant location in Brea at 975 E. Birch St. in Brea, CA. The cost at only $15.95 a person is well worth the money!!!  As you enter the sake tasting, you are given tickets to taste a variety of sake and other beverages and there is a variety of sushi to enjoy as well.  The sake tastings and food pairings go from 6:30-9:00pm, so there is an ample amount of time to sample all of the different sakes and sushi and enjoy!

Sake Tour Spring 2014

I had never been to Kabuki before, but we met a lovely couple in which we enjoyed our experience with that told us about how Kabuki is the only place they will go for sushi!  I must say as a sushi lover, all of the sushi tasted amazing and fresh.  Everything we had, we thoroughly enjoyed. Kabuki Japanese Restaurant is a full-service, casual Japanese restaurant chain with 17 locations in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada.

Dassai 50 Sake

Make sure to look into if your area will be hosting sake tasting at their restaurant because it is well worth it to attend!  The restaurant showcases traditional and innovative Japanese cuisine by Corporate Executive Chef Masa Kurihara, and an expansive beverage program featuring classic cocktails, a selection of wine and beer, as well as creative sake libations created by Sake Sommelier Yuji Matsumoto.  Kabuki had a really fun and friendly atmosphere and a gorgeous patio to enjoy a variety of different Japanese dishes and beverages!  I hope to go to Kabuki again soon in the near future. :)

Have you ever been to Kabuki or attended one of their Sake tours? I would love to hear about your experience below if so!  Make sure to head out to Brea tonight if you are in the Orange County area to take advantage of this deal!  It is well worth your time! :) Also, do not forget if you cannot make it out tonight, there will be three more events coming up soon in the Los Angeles area!
