For Deep Ellum regulars, a stop at late-night doughnut favorite Glazed Donut Works is an essential part of any night out. Next year, though, you won’t have to head south in order to find these perfectly fried rounds of dough.
Next year, Glazed Donut Works will open its second DFW outpost inside Legacy Hall. The shop joins some of the city’s heaviest culinary hitters, like John Tesar and Matt McCallister, who are both currently developing concepts for the forthcoming three-story food hall.
In equally exciting news, CultureMap reports that Glazed Donut Works has hired Joseph Baker, a.k.a. Joe The Baker, to run their pastry operations. You may recognize Baker from his frequent appearances at farmers markets across DFW, or perhaps from his stints as pastry chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek and Tesar’s long-shuttered Spoon Bar + Kitchen.
Thanks to his new duties, Baker won’t be making as many appearances at local markets, but you’ll still be able to find his macarons and other baked delights at Royal Blue Grocery, the Coppell Farmers Market, or via private order.
Legacy Hall is expected to debut in August 2017, which should mean the arrival of Glazed Donut Works’ more northerly outpost.
