Representative Stace Nelson unveils his initial Campaign Team for U.S. Senate.

Fulton, S.D. — Stace Nelson for U.S. Senate Campaign announces members of initial Campaign Team.

“I am humbled and blessed with the support of so many great South Dakotans that share our concerns for the future of our country, and the understanding that we must get back to sending public servants, not career minded politicians, to Washington. I am honored to announce the following initial members of our campaign:”

Representative Lance Russell, Chairman – Lance brings a wealth of experience to the table as a former Executive Director of the South Dakota Republican Party and Fall River County GOP Chairman. Lance will supervise the overall direction and strategy of the Campaign. Lance practices law in Hot Springs, S.D. and has served District 30 in the South Dakota State Legislature since 2008.

Mark Brown, Communications Director – Mark brings 22 years of Air Force Public Affairs experience to the Campaign team. He is a retired veteran of the USAF. Shelli Hodgkins, Scheduler – Shelli is an active SD Republican, is the SD Assistant Chair of As a Mom, administers two SD 9-12 Groups, and is affiliated with numerous conservative and liberty-oriented groups across the state and nation. Eldon Stahl, Director of Field Activities – Since 2006, Eldon has professionally organized, oriented, trained, and activated hundreds of grassroots volunteers in prominent national non-profit organizations in the Dakotas. Eldon@stacenelson.com

R. Shawn Tornow, Chief Legal Counsel – He has successfully practiced law at the state, county, and local levels both in the public and private sectors for the past 26 years. He is a former two-term Representative and a respected Christian Conservative Republican. Shawn previously served as the Minnehaha County Republican Party Chairman and has been actively involved in state and local campaigns for over 20 years.

Robert Bender, Treasurer – Rob is a farmer, widower, father of four, and the Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Hanson County.

Travis Schaunaman, Director of Visual Communications – Travis serves clients nationwide with web development, graphic design and video services from his Aberdeen-based agency, Production Monkeys.

Young South Dakotans for Stace:

Drew Dennert, State Coordinator – Drew will head up the Campaign’s outreach efforts to younger voters. Drew served as a Page during the 2012 South Dakota Legislature’s General Session in Pierre. He is currently a Brown County Precinct 14 Republican Committeeman, represents District 2 in the South Dakota Teenage Republicans (TARS), and is very active in local campaigns.

Area Field Coordinators:

Representative Dan Kaiser – SD Legislative District 3- Rep. Kaiser also serves as a law enforcement officer in Aberdeen and is a US Army Iraq War veteran. He has distinguished himself as conservative and liberty-minded legislator.

Rich Hilgemann, Aberdeen – Rich is a dedicated supporter of Conservative and liberty-minded Republicans and is active in the local Republican party and other conservative groups. He is a US Army veteran who served in Iraq and elsewhere in the Infantry.

Ken Santema, Aberdeen – Ken has been active in supporting Conservatives and liberty-minded candidates for years and operates a liberty-oriented political blog. He is a US Army veteran, a former network engineer, and currently runs his own business consulting firm with his wife.

Scott Bartlett, Minnehaha County – Former SD Chair of the Constitution Party, Scott has been active politically for years in helping true conservatives get elected.

Aaron Heidelberger, Minnehaha County – Aaron has been active in supporting Conservatives and liberty-minded Republicans for several years. He is a disabled veteran and served on active duty in the US Army as a paratrooper for seven years. He has been a Precinct Committeeman in the Republican Party since 2010 and has worked on many campaigns, including the 2012 presidential race.

Shamra Johnson, Sioux Falls—Shamra serves as a Republican Precinct Committeewoman in Minnehaha County, and has been active in supporting Conservative Republican campaigns for years.

Brian and Melinda Roth, Lincoln County—Brian and Melinda serve as Republican Precinct Committeeman and Committeewoman, respectively for the past 7 years. The Roths view the Bible and the US Constitution as the foundation and law of our great nation.

Amy Renmoe, Hayti, District 2 – Amy is a Registered Nurse who chooses to be a stay at home mother to her three children, wife to her husband who is a self-employed businessman, and farmer.

Kendall A. Schmidt, US Army LTC, USA, Ret.—Kendall will cover Beadle, Spink, and Hand Counties. Kendall describes himself as a “Christian Conservative Republican.” Kendall’s past awards include the VFW National Employment Service Officer Award for 2006 and the Disabled American Veterans’ Award for 2005 and 2008.

Ken Olson, Huron, District 22 – Ken is a Vietnam War US Army veteran. Ken is a “born again Christian Conservative Patriot” Republican who has tirelessly worked in support of numerous statewide political campaigns over the years; including Mike Rounds initial gubernatorial, Senator Thune’s, and Congresswoman Noem’s election campaigns.

Bill Kluck, Mud Butte – Bill is a rancher in Northwest South Dakota. He is a former County Farm Bureau President, is active with the Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America (R-CALF); Bill serves as chair for the R-CALF Sheep Committee, and is currently the Vice-President of South Dakota Stockgrowers’ Association (SDSGA).

John Perry, Newell – Local businessman and leader of Guardians of the Constitution, a Western SD TEA Party organization.

Matt Johnson, Rapid City – Matt is a political contractor with experience working on the national level as a former intern in Washington, D.C., as well as on significant local races.

Barb Landers, Rapid City – Barb serves on the Pennington County Planning and Zoning Commission and is an active member of the Pennington County Republican Party, serving on the Party’s Executive Board as Liaison to the TEA Party movement in Rapid City. Barb has been Secretary of SD Citizens for Liberty (SDCFL), Inc., a TEA Party organization, since its inception in 2010.

Tonchi Weaver, Rapid City – Tonchi served as a Republican Precinct Committeewoman from 2004-2008. In 2010 she helped found SDCFL, and was Treasurer for two years. She is active in Pennington County Republican politics as well as state politics to include organizing efforts against Common Core.

Mike Mueller, Rapid City – Mike is a mechanical engineer who has worked in Rapid City for 25 years, and is the current President of the SDCFL. Mike has been actively supporting Conservative & liberty causes for over ten years.

Julie Mueller, Rapid City – Julie is part of a family business in downtown Rapid City that has been operating for thirty years this fall. She is currently the SDCL Membership Committee Co-chair.

Florence Thompson, Rapid City, District 30 – Florence is a retired School Psychologist with over forty years of experience in Education, and has been supporting Conservative causes for a number of years.

Gordon Howie, Rapid City – Gordon is a Rapid City businessman, host of Christian Conservative TV show and blog, as well as a longtime Christian Conservative Republican. He served three terms in the state Legislature and was a 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate.

Jordan Mason, Rapid City – Jordan is a former City Alderman in Rapid City, and has worked on several local campaigns. Jordan is a veteran of the US Navy.

Representative “Chip” Campbell, Rapid City—Rep. Campbell is a Rapid City businessman, a veteran and retired USAF officer, as well as a District 35 Legislator. In his first term, he has distinguished himself as one of South Dakota’s top liberty-minded legislators.

Representative Elizabeth May, Badlands Area – Rep. May is a business owner in Kyle and a District 27 Legislator. In her first term, she has distinguished herself as a conservative & liberty-minded legislator.
