When it comes to selling cars, a large portion of Lexus’ sales success can be attributed to the F Sport trims; when given as an option for almost models it helps the Toyota luxury division climb substantially in sales. The total number of models bearing upon themselves the F Sport label is 77,495.
The reception toward the F Sport has prompted Lexus to provide for the first time an F Sport for the new 2016 Lexus RX. Though the F Sport packages are different in each model, most of the features are superficial such as bumpers and wheels, there are several enhanced hardware as well such tuned suspension and Sport drive mode.
Numbers do the talking, so to illustrate the influence this trim, the F Sport has resulted in around 70 percent of purchases for the Lexus RC coupe being that of the F Sport variant as of the end September this year. The percentage of those opting for the F Sport is close to 50 for the Lexus GS sedan and Lexus IS sport sedan.
The success of the F Sport is extended to vehicles of other segments from Lexus. Around 34 percent of the Lexus CT Hybrid sold is the F Sport; Lexus NX compact utility crossover has 30 percent of its sales donning the F Sport package. The latest numbers for Lexus sales so far is 247,445, about 2,500 behind German premium brands Mercedes-Benz and BMW. That’s not too bad.
