Daniel Stone

Assistant Professor of Economics Daniel Stone started Bowdoin’s first behavioral economics course in 2013. Now two giants of the behavior economics field, Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky, are the subject of best-selling author Michael Lewis’s new book, The Undoing Project. Lewis chronicles the surprising tension and falling out that developed between the great researchers.

Stone has written an op-ed arguing that the problems in Kahneman and Tversky’s relationship may have ironically been caused by the very cognitive biases they studied – but that Lewis fails to note this. Stone also says the link between cognitive biases and the success or failure of interpersonal relationships may be stronger than is currently thought, and should be further studied. Read more.
