June is upon us and that means there’s a lot to celebrate: the men in our lives (Father’s Day is June 21), the happy couple (June is a big month for “I dos”) and of course the official start of summer (also on June 21). But you don’t have to go to the poorhouse trying to make everyone happy.

A recent RetailMeNot survey found that more than one in three Americans usually spend more money on Mother’s Day than on Father’s Day. If you’re hankering to add a couple of trendy pieces to your summer wardrobe or you need something fabulous to wear to an upcoming wedding, June is the sweet spot for sales on mid to high-end clothing. Smythe says that sales from top designer clothing retailers are common in June and that discounts are as deep as an extra 40 to 50% off sale items.
Retailers in this category are looking to create space on their racks for the new fall collections, so now is the time to snap up a pair of those pleated culottes (marked down now 25% off to $73.50 at Nordstrom) you’ve been obsessing over since they hit the shelves.
