When the country is going on smoothly along a peaceful truck to development, a group of people have been trying to destabilize it and also trying to derail it by creating anarchy. To make their damnable ill-will a success, they are causing vice incidents like killing foreigners, blasting bombs in crowded places. Likewise, a schoolboy died and over 50 people were injured as three powerful homemade bombs exploded at the crowded Dhaka’s Hoseni Dalan as Shia Muslim devotees were taking preparations for bringing out the traditional Tajia (sympathy) procession marking the holy Ashura in the early hours of Saturday. “The exploded devices were homemade bombs . . . two of those did not went off,” Home Minister Asaduzuzaman Khan told journalists while visiting the deceased school boy and other injured at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Saturday noon. He said the law enforcement agencies are working and the perpetrators whoever they may be would not go unpunished. A hospital source said the deceased was identified as Sajjad Hossain Sanju, 15, a class six student of Nurul Haque Model High School. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chalkbazar police station M Azizul Haque told that three bombs went off at Hoseni Dalan at about 2am while the preparation of the Tajia procession was in progress. He said detective branch (DB) of police detained four suspects in this connection. The body was kept at the DMCH for autopsy while the injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and medical facilities in the city.
Of them, nine were undergoing treatment at DMCH and 27 others at Sir Sallimullah Medical College Hospital with splinter injuries.
Attack on Tazia procession preparations preplanned: Asaduzzaman
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said Saturday that the bomb attack at Hosne Dalan was preplanned. “Police have the video footage of the attack. The culprits will be identified from the footage and arrested,” he said.
The home minister made these observations while visiting Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where many of the wounded were undergoing treatment. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Huq and other high police officials were with the minister during the visit.
The minister said the police had sent specific instructions not to bring out any procession after dusk but that apparently was not adhered to. “Nevertheless, the police are looking into the matter and I am hopeful that the culprits will be nabbed soon.”
Asaduzzaman said there was no problem with the security arrangements. “Our security arrangements were foolproof,” he added.
Responding to a question from journalists, he said, “We will never allow militants to raise their heads.” This will never be repeated, he assured journalists present there.
Earlier, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Miah said, “Efforts are on to arrest the criminals.”
Some bombs were thrown at 1:55 am on Friday when preparations for a Tazia procession of Muharram were going on at Hosne Dalan premises. As a result, one person died and more than a hundred people were injured. The wounded have been admitted to Dhaka and Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospitals.
Anti-liberation forces involved in city blast: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hauqe Saturday said anti-liberation forces and war criminals might be involved in Muharram gathering bomb attacks in the capital’s Hosni Dalan area.
“Police, after a preliminary investigation, think that it was not the attack of any militant organization . . . It was carried out by anti-liberation forces and war criminals,” he told journalists after visiting the crime scene at Hosne Dalan area in the old Dhaka and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“Motive behind the killing of a police SI (sub-Inspector) at Gabtolly and today’s bomb attacks seemed to be interlinked as it appeared to be almost similar and the same circle committed both the attacks,” the IGP observed.
Referring to confessional statement of Masud, who was arrested in connection with the killing of a sub-inspector at Gabtoli, the police chief said different groups have been assigned to create anarchy and instability across the country and “this blast is a part of their pre-planned destructive acts”.
Replying to a query, he said police did not find any militant link to the murder of police sub-inspector while anti-liberation forces were involved in the killing.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzzaman Mia, who also visited the injured at DMCH, said, “It seems that no militant outfits were behind the attacks; it was a part of planned design of vested quarter.”
Kamal said “The law enforcement agencies are working and the perpetrators whoever they may be would not go unpunished. Police have the video footage of the attack. The culprits will be identified from the footage and arrested”
