One of the renowned songs of our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is, “chorono felio dhire dhire/ priyo amaro somadhi pore/ jano mor ghum venge jay nako/ jeno khoniker tore… The pain of this song gets mixed with the matter of making the allowance for freedom fighter double. Some days ago minister for liberation war affairs AKM Mozzammel Haq declared to make Tk. 10,000 allowance for freedom fighters. Many liberation war spirit rearing mind were overflowed through his declaration. I also thanked this declaration. But it’s a matter of sorrow that finance minister AMA Muhit announced in his proposed budget speech to make Tk. 10,000 allowance only for those who exceeded 65 years old. It means that the freedom fighters under 65 won’t get the increased amount of allowance. For this the freedom fighters of all ages and liberation war spirit rearing people got mortified. We hope that those freedom fighters are alive, whatever their age is the government will make their allowance Tk. 10,000. When not a single freedom fighter will remain alive it won’t be proper if allowance multiply into ten fold. This matter is comparable to the jest of the song of our National poet. It’s necessary to make a request to finance minister that he became finance minister during Ershad and Sheikh Hasina regime. It’s the contribution of the freedom fighters. Never did he get opportunity if the freedom fighters hadn’t made the country independent with their unlimited bravery. Never did he become a full secretary of the country if the country couldn’t be independent. He had to go retirement as a middle class officer. So every people of the country including he is liable to the freedom fighters. We think the government must inquire that is the finance minister a anti freedom fighter. He doubled the salary of different govt. employees but he is reluctant to increase Freedom fighters allowance. Md. Hafiz Ahmed Mojumdar, a Freedom Fighter of Chadpur district said, “why finance minister is in parsimony to make Tk. 10,000 allowance for FF’? Most of the freedom fighters were under 20 years during liberation war. Most of the living freedom fighters didn’t exceed the limit of 65 years old. And how many days the people of Bangladesh live! Most of the freedom fighters are unhealthy. They are also living with disgrace.” Consenting with Md. Hafiz Ahmed Mojumdar I want to say, honorable PM Shiekh Hasina must interfere in this regard and the finance minister must feel the sufferings of freedom fighters. Freedom fighters will die in course of time. Then we will find no living Freedom Fighter. But we will hear their valorous story always. Next generation will hear the story, how the anti liberation government harassed the freedom fighters, how they killed the FF’s and how they humiliate their contribution with consciously. Lakh’s of Freedom Fighters has been passed their lives with starvation during their living life. Due to lack of money they could not receiving better treatment. On the other hand anti freedom fighters always opposed the FF’s. Anti-freedom fighters help the Pakistani raider to catch the freedom fighters. All state facilities have given the anti-freedom fighters. As a result they anti-liberation groups were richer more. They also achieved the highest post in government job. But we will never found any living freedom fighters then. We have to try more so the future generation will not cry in hearing the story of Freedom Fighters. Freedom Fighters are our greatest son. State should serve the freedom fighters always in their well and owe. State should remove their poverty. How many days they living in the world, state should preserves all facilities for the freedom fighters. The sacrificed their valuable life for the sake of our liberation. Those who are alive, we hope they will successes in life. Finally I will say that, without any delay allowance of every freedom fighter will be Tk.10 thousand soon.
