Hi all - just a quick note to inform you that we will be migrating the Daily Grail this weekend (if all goes well) to our new site. As this will involve moving the content between databases, I have shut down the ability to comment until we have moved across, to ensure that we don't have someone posting a long and thoughtful comment that then disappears because it was posted during the migration process.
The new design will not be too difficult to figure out: the frontpage retains much of the same structure (recent Feature articles at the top, with recent posts and news briefs available beneath). There is a bit of a change, in order to make the front page more of a summary rather than 'put all the content we can fit in to one page': now there are links to a list of the most recent posts and news briefs, rather than just the most recent post on its own, in full.
Also, I have made the decision to shut down user-posted blogs, for a bunch of reasons (heavily attacked by spam, libellous posts opening the site up to legal action, etc.) Already published posts will still be preserved and come across during the migration though - but each of you might want to decide whether you want to leave the posts up on the new site, or remove them and put them somewhere that you have posting access. Once we're up and running I'm happy to help out with whatever you need on that.
Also, there will no doubt be some teething problems during the migration, and in some cases there are elements that I know will be broken (just hopefully none of the 'show-stopper' variety) because we simply can't fix them until the new site is up and running. So please bear with us as we iron the kinks out of the system - if you need any help, or have some important feedback, note that you can contact us anytime through our Twitter account, or our Facebook page, or even by good old-fashioned email (greg, at, dailygrail.com).
See you on the other side!
